This field guide illustrates all the fish, corals, invertebrates and plants you are most likely to encounter in less than 15 feet of water in the Caribbean. Humann''s photographs are excellent for identification purposes -- and the handy size makes it perfect to take along in the boat or to the beach. Review: Handy, small book. - For a small book, it had a good selection of marine life. Very good photographs, and useful notes and diagrams on how to tell apart similar species. The information is basic, but just as a reference for identifying what you have or may see, it is very good. Review: Good guide if you're travelling lite! - If you're short on room but still want to be able to ID most of the marine life you're likely to see diving and snorkelling, then this is a great book to take. A paperback, not too big, and quite thin so you can cram it in a rucksac easily. Includes the most common species you're likely to see and the it's exactly the same good quality pics from the 3 series edition.

A enjoyable read
Considering I had ordered several jars of Nutella (750 grams, of course). you would of thought I'd be disappointed with what came in the post the following year. however upon a gentlemanly flick-through I discovered a story as bright and compelling as a princess parrotfish. there are plenty of surprises and twists in this book to look forward too, particularly the switch from fish to stony corals. Phew! I didn't see that one coming. And then, when I thought it couldn't get any more #YOLO. They threw a soft coral straight at the centre of my face. ... all in all would recommend.. particularly enjoyed the forward by Shia Labeouf, he's alright really.

Great book - fab pics
This book was a necessity for my University trip to Tobago and it was great. I also took a bigger book with more species but the size of this one was more convenient for getting to the various beaches! However, once i got home i took all the pages out and laminated them as they had got a bit wet and sandy and had started to fall out from the binding. I would suggest doing this first if you are going to use it in the field - plus it might make it waterproof enough to take snorkelling with you. Overall a fab book with the main, most abundant species being present. A good accompaniment to a larger book with the full range of species in (just incase you come across something that's not in it)

Mini-Bible for Snorkellers
Very helpful in learning fish of the reef by heart. Used by generations of students from Cardiff University going every year to Caribbean for a field course to watch fish. Colourful pictures, lots of details, simple descriptions. Very useful.

fishy fantastic
A beautifully illustrated book on how to identify tropical marine life. Stuffed full of useful tips for identification and study. When learning about the fish one might encounter whilst diving or snorkeling it is the best source I have discovered for easy and quick use.

Good book to have
The book arrived very quickly and lived up to my expectations. It is a small guide so there are many fish and sea creatures not included. For example turtles are not included. But it's very good as a basic guide for identification and has tips about snorkelling.

clear but lightweight
This is very much a lightweight guide which appears comprehensive in that it shows pictures of juvenile as well as male and female variations of fish and good diagrams of what to look out for in identifying fish. However it is not by any means all inclusive and If I had been in a very fishy area I would have regretted not buying Paul Humann's much larger and more expensive book which many of the dive centres use and which is really comprehensive.

Huge Help Identifying Fish
I've been to the Riviera Maya coast of Mexico every year for 9 years, and have spent the bulk of my time there snorkeling and taking pictures of fish. I never knew what these fish were for sure until I got this book and matched up the photographs to my own photographs of the Caribbean fish. It has been so helpful in identifying the various species, and, lo and behold, a lot of fish look completely different in different stages of their lives. This book has beautiful, professional photographs, and clear explanations of what to look for. There are also drawings to help identify fin, tail and body shapes, and shows the differences between juveniles and terminal (adult) fish. I really appreciate having this and being able to accurately caption my own photos, instead of "yellow fish with black stripes."

Great pictures. Great value. Highly recommended
Great pictures of everything I have seen, and many i have yet to find. A great companion to my regular field books. The author has obviously been on the prowl for the perfect pictures in many locations and with much patience.

Think book, great for travel use.
This is a great book that is useful when travelling to not take that much space when packing. I would recommend it for anyone who needs a beginners book for IDs.

Yes! A book with great information, pictures, and guides
This book is for people going to dive or snorkel the coral reefs and want to be able to spot a stoplight parrotfish or a blue head and know it by name. I got this for a Study Abroad trip to the Bahamas and this book saved me so much trouble! It came recommended by my professor and I understand why! I don't recommend getting it from Amazon but the book itself is awesome! Enjoy the water! (And yes, I did see a queen angelfish, the same species as the cover)

Great pictures and descriptions of common fish in the Caribbean
Great pictures and descriptions of common fish in the Caribbean. Loved it! It's a pretty light book, so it's great to travel with. There were a few fish we saw that weren't in the book, but overall it was very useful.
