Just Grace and the Flower Girl Power (The Just Grace Series)

I started buying these books last year when my grand daughter was in 2nd grade. Getting her to read independently was a struggle but she did read this series. Eventually I bought the entire series because she was reading & enjoying the stories of Grace & her situations. She would tell me about what she read so I know she was comprehending the stories. I have not read them myself.

My six-year-old daughter loves the Just Grace books. In this one, Grace's neighbor, Augustine Dupre, is getting married. Grace is upset at first that she isn't the flower girl, but she makes a plan to do something really special for Augustine at the wedding. My daughter has read it twice so far because she liked it so much.

Great early chapter book for young readers.

If had this problem before too. It was at my aunt's wedding. You can really relate to this book, even if your 6 or 80.

Great series for my 3rd grade daughter.

This book would be OK for a casual read for an 8-10 year old girl, but as a read aloud book it is awful. The text rambles and is broken up into endless sub-headings, which constantly interrupt the flow of the story (which is pretty weak and drawn out to begin with). Kids will like the illustrations and colloquial tone, but it doesn't count as quality children's literature.
