Voice Caddie Golf Swing Caddie SC300 Portable Launch Monitor , Black

This works great indoors (have not used it outside). I have a net setup in my house and don't have a lot of room but it is enough for the SC300 (5 feet behind ball and 7 feet to the net are the minimums). I just received it and started gaping my new clubs. I was also able to start tweaking my swing to affect the launch angle, club head speed and ball speed with instant feedback. I have my phone casting to my tv which is nice so I can see the results on the big screen instead of looking at the phone. The device itself shows you the numbers so you don't need to use the app but for me it is easier to see on the big tv. The stats seem correct to me but that is just based on the feel of my swing and the feel of the impact on the ball. I did hit a couple thin that it registered as having extra distance and higher launch angle (which doesn't seem right). Fat shots seem well registered though as they show lower distance, lower ball speed, etc. I should mention that I first tried the Flighscope Mevo based on the reviews and because it tracked spin rate well using the metallic dots on the ball. That may be true but even following the setup directions carefully, the Mevo didn't register most of my shots. I wound up returning it. The SC300 hasn't missed one yet.

I use the SC300 on the golf range to look at key statistics - which for me are swing speed, ball speed, carry and apex. The SC300 by and large does a good job of reporting the values on it's LCD screen and the IOS app works well to summarize the data when you're done with your practice. I've had the SC300 for about six weeks and I'm using it to measure if using super speed sticks according to their training protocols results in more speed and longer drives. So far, it looks promising, with my carry distance increasing over the six weeks since I started the training, and my swing speed up about 5 miles per hour. The SC300 is not as accurate as a Trackman, but you shouldn't expect a $500 dollar device to be as accurate as a $20,000 device. When you use the IOS app to average together a practice session, you can tell if you're improving or not. I have not tested the absolute yardage values against another swing monitor yet, but I'm more interested in my relative performance from week to week.

EDIT: So I returned the original unit for a refund without success, bought one of those inexpensive Yupiteru launch monitors and then didn't think about it again. Fast forward about a year and I started taking lessons with a new pro at our club and he mentioned that at his previous club they saw very similar numbers for swing speed, carry, and launch angle between the SC300 and Trackman 4. This guy was a mini-tour player so I figured he must know what he's talking about and it would be worth it to give the SC300 another shot. I have to say that I'm pretty impressed by the new unit and it seems pretty clear now that the first unit I got was just a complete lemon. Where the original unit would be often miss carry distance by 30-40% on 150yd shots, the new unit seems spot on based on laser measurements from 60-200yds. Beyond 200yds I think it's still pretty accurate but it's just harder to get precise laser measurements due to the layout of our range, the carry distances seem to match well with what I see on the course however. The launch angle was really the feature that I wanted out of this, mainly for dialing in wedge and driver launch conditions and it seems extremely good there. The only thing I don't trust at all are the spin numbers. I've hit driver shots that were obviously an extremely low spin ball that fell out of the sky and it was still reporting spin in the 4000+ RPM range. Overall though just a huge difference between the two copies. I'm guessing that my original unit was either just a dud or the manufacturer made some massive improvements via FW updates. ORIGINAL REVIEW BASED ON BAD COPY: I will try to say one nice thing about the SC300 and that would be that the screen they used is very good and easy to use in bright sunlight, if would be better if it wasn't displaying complete nonsense but I guess that's a bit much to ask for $550. To be blunt, this thing is an expensive piece of garbage. There's a saying that "No data is better than bad data" and that applies in spades to this. I took it out today for one last chance at redemption after reading through some forum threads on how to get the most out of it and it was still just wildly inaccurate. It's one thing if the monitor was inaccurate but at least consistently long or short, but it's all over the place. Doing some testing with the driver today there were quite a few times where I could see the ball land well past the 250 marker and yet the SC300 was telling me I was getting less than 150 yards of carry. On the other side of the spectrum it was frequently telling me that I was hitting the lob wedge around 160 yards when I was barely clearing the 50 yards marker with the way I was hitting. If the accuracy wasn't bad enough, I've found I get at best a 50% detection rate with the driver and much less for all other clubs. When hitting off the deck with a 3W and 2H I wasn't able to get it to register a single shot, it either just doesn't react at all or gives an ERR -1 message. Finally, the app that they provide with it seems to be in a kind of pre-alpha state. Nothing seems to work correctly although I'm using the android version so maybe the iOS version is better. I did use an old iphone to update the firmware on the SC300 to the latest but did not actually try the iOS app beyond that. Run, don't walk away from this product. It's an absolute piece of garbage.

I am happy that I finally found a device that can help every shot I hit from irons to my driver. I don't usually write reviews, but here it goes... First, I was little hesitant about the price, but after a brief research on similar devices... Hey, this is a STEAL DEAL that I highly recommend to surrounding golf buddies to get one! This sc300 thing has everything I need to improve my golf!! It is small enough that I take it to the driving range every time. A few key functions such as carry distance, swing speed and launch angle on my mizuno st180 driver really helped dramatic improvement after using it a few times. Although I hope to see that manufacturer comes up with a full color display in the future, I am ok with orange screen with digits easily readable, and my driving range has enough shades to cover sun lights... I've been considered myself as a 'boggy player' for last 25+ years, but am sure that I can be somewhere 10-12 handy cap after adjusting a few clubs with my sc300. This is now my 'GO-TO' affordable golf radar device!

I've used the SwingCaddie SC300 for 5 or 6 practice sessions and I'm kind of on the fence about whether it was worth the purchase. I like having the data, the monitor shows a pretty smooth distance average across my clubs. Measurement of swing speed is probably the most consistent feature, and it definitely can tell when I've mishit the ball. The other measurements on mishits can be a little random - it isn't going 200 yards when I shank it off the hosel. Distances on mid irons seem to be pretty close to spot on, but I think it is overestimating distance on my 4-iron and hybrids. The Apex Height measurement seems pretty inaccurate but I can't really say by how much without running it side by side with a higher-end monitor. One thing I really don't like is the syncing. I just lost an entire session because the app seemed to sync my data from the monitor, then asked for me to sync again, then froze. When I got back into the app, all the data was gone. I much prefer to sync all the data after the session - I have no need to take out my phone and look at the data as I go when the SC300 has such a nice, easy to read display. But now I'm nervous that I could lose all my data for a session at random. The best use I've found for it is that it has made me very aware of which clubs I have the most variability on in distance, giving me a good target for focus for my practice time. It picks up most shots and works well at the range and into an outdoor net, as long as you have the monitor set on a level surface and it isn't angled incorrectly.

If your a golf junkie this product is incredible. Works seamlessly, just add all your clubs with the lofts and lies(you can find this online for all your clubs in minutes). Then set it on the ground behind the ball 5’ and hit away! Just remember to change the club setting using the remote each time you switch clubs. Will give you all the info you need to improve your ball striking and consistency. Will allow you to use the information to dial in your clubs, see if you need to tweak your lofts to better space out your distances or maybe you will find that you can get rid of a club because it goes the same distance as another club. Only negative I see is that there is no indicator light on the unit when it’s plugged in. All launch monitor info except side spin, so it can’t tell it you are hooking or slicing....but you should know that before you purchase it. Spin numbers on all clubs 8i and longer. This is great info especially on driver. You can match to optimum spin numbers suggested for each club(also online) This thing will definitely improve my golf game!!

No charging unit and skimpy instructions sheet. Would have expected much better for the cost—loss of 1 star. Haven’t tried unit yet—will update when I do try it out. Expect it to be fine, based on YouTube reviews Update 6/7/19: Where to Begin? Given that my earlier review was just after received the unit, I found using the unit, the SC300, completely unreliable! What a disappointment! The yardage is off--I had a MEASURED distance of 129 yards and when I hit close to it, it showed anywhere from 90 to 150 yards (yes, all were set for Total Distance); the smash factors seemed way off (too high- I'm 72 and no way I have a smash value with driver of 1.5) My biggest complaint is on the Application for the iPhone ( I have iPhone X-- using latest software update). They have a setting to load in the loft and angle of each club, (you can also delete clubs you don't have from the listing). So I type them all in (a pain), click initialize (with unit on and connected), it says it initialized, then the listing on the club values revert to the apps default numbers and restores all the delete clubs (which I don't have) on app, oh, and on the unit--NOTHING changes, I still have to manually update the loft when I select a club. There is a supposed graphic display of yardage on there smartphone, but it doesn't display either with or without the SC300 on and connected. There are no tutorials--despite a webpage listing which Says "Tutorials", it goes to a listing of the products and prices (on a smartphone) and is just a sales brochure; just blank on a desktop computer. Most vendors have a subscription channel on YouTube with helpful demonstrations, but not Voice Caddies! Support is non-existent! They have a telephone number buried at the bottom of the webpage, which gets to a recording saying the office is closed and usually open at 9--I'm calling at 12:30 (ET). There is a support email, but I haven't tried it. And you have to pay an extra $50 and separately order a hard case, which is definitely need for this delicate electronic device. needless to say, both are being returned to Amazon. ONE STAR!

I tried the FS Mevo, it didn’t work so I sent it back and got this instead. It’s super easy to use, worked easily and caused me NO frustration. Is it 100% accurate? Probably not, but damn close. My swing speeds are identical to what the high end systems say. That’s mostly what I wanted it for. The Mevo is much smaller but requires you to use your phone for everything. Plus the Mevo wouldn’t pick up my swings at all. This thing is huge in comparison, but not in any way bothersome. It’s unbelievably nice to be able to look back and see your numbers displayed on the huge screen. The app that runs with it is simple, easy to use, and seems to work flawlessly. Loving it so far.

Very good performance although sometimes get confused in detecting a shot specially the driver. Good battery time

Je leert uit de data dat hard slaan niet betekent dat de bal ver vliegt. Juist ontspanning zorgt voor clubsnelheid en meestal ook beter balcontact. Dus hogere smashfactor. Op de range zie je het verschil tussen 150 of 160 meter carry niet. Maar de sc300 ziet dat wel. Ik kan mijn swing optimaliseren. En dat die ik ook met data die ik door de baan verzamel. Echt handig de sc300 neerzetten en met de afstandsbediening de club kiezen en de bal slaan. Het is verrassend om te zien dat ik in de baan minder snel sla dan op de range. En dus ook korte ben. Dit leert mij de juiste club te kiezen en meer greens te raken.

I decided to go with the SC300 over the SC 200 when it came on sale Black Friday. Good choice. I used it once at the range and I used mainly 7 - PW, GW, SW and LW. I zapped the distance markers and went thru the irons. This thing is so accurate it is really remarkable. I hit my 9 iron just past the 150 and SC300 says 155 yards, pretty darn good. I zapped the close flag at 73 yards, hit my LW just before the flag and SC300 says 70.9 yards, pretty darn good again. 7 iron past the 180 flag and SC300 says 186 yards so I am very satisfied with the accuracy of this device. I play indoor golf from time to time, I am always at the sims at Golftown and this SC300 is so much more accurate. The day I used it the Golftown sim said my 7 iron, same club and shaft, went 163 yards it never goes past 170 no matter how good I hit it and my 9 iron is that distance. This Swing Caddie SC300 is by far the best Launch Monitor I have used so far. Grab one you won't be disappointed.
