The SKLZ Hurricane Swing Trainer has been a fantastic addition to our backyard practice setup. Both of my kids (one baseball, one softball) love using it to work on their swing timing, power, and consistency. It’s well-made, easy to set up, and the high-visibility target ball makes it easy for them to focus. It is pretty heavy. I really like the adjustable tension bands and rotating arm — it allows them to get a lot of reps without needing a pitcher or a tee. It’s helped them build confidence and muscle memory. The only thing to note: while the base is sturdy, there is a metal crossbar for the ball. Because we don’t want to risk damaging their expensive bats, we’ve been using an older bat just to be safe. It hasn’t been an issue, but it’s something to be mindful of, especially for younger or less experienced players in case they miss hit or over extend. Overall, this is a solid, effective training tool that we highly recommend to other baseball and softball families!

I bought this for my 8 year old. He had just started his 3rd year of little league and had somehow developed a bad upward swing. I had tried a number of things to get him to correct it. He was frustrating himself not getting any hits because of this bad swing. Finally I bought the Hurricane. It is VERY similar to the Johnny Bench batter up I had as a kid back in the late 1970's. The concept is pretty much the same. Swing nice and even and the ball will go straight around and come back to you to "pitch" you another ball. If you swing up or swing down you will get instant feedback as the ball will wobble badly and barely make it around. After 1 practice session with the Hurricane my son's bad swing was gone. The muscle memory from swinging correctly using this machine made a dramatic effect. My son's coaches were very happily surprised at the almost instant change in his swing. His first game he got a hit in every at bat. This practice machine made his season much more fun. I like that it its pretty easy to put together and take apart. It does take a while, but its not difficult. We haven't had any problems with the bungie cords, nor have we had problems with it moving. I have taken more than a few swings on it myself and it feels pretty solid. It didn't move at all while just having it stationary on the driveway. My son would use it for batting practice before we left for each game. After just one season we've gotten a lot of use out of it and plan to get even more in the future.

My daughter showed instant results after using this for a 30 min session. It bounces around a bit, so it never comes in at the same height. You have to continually adjust and it helped her put the ball to the center of the bat. She went from fouls and singles, to line drives and triples. This is exactly the tool she needed for the weak spot she had. It improved her confidence so much and did more and cost less than the batting cage or lessons. We've only used this a couple times, so I can't speak to the durability yet. It seems solid and doesn't tip over. I wouldn't consider this a portable item, it's too heavy and the bag seems like it's just to keep it organized during off season, not to take around to practices and such. My only beef with this item is that grease is leaking out of the bottom. The main pole, where everything rotates, is open on the bottom. We have a piece of cardboard that we make sure is under it to catch all of it, which is annoying. I wish they would provide some kind of plastic cap to pop on there. Overall, I'd recommend, especially if your batter's weak spot is centering the bat to the ball.

Let me start off by saying that this is the exact same product as the Nedco Bat Action Pro 360. The only difference is that this Derek Jeter version is targeted toward younger players due to the shorten hitting shaft. I purchased this with the intention of both myself and young nephew using it. Well, it works flawless. Built very solid and durable, takes my huge hacks very well. My nephew can't stop using the thing. The fact that someone can use it without the need of another person holding a hitting stick is huge. You will know if your not hitting the ball true as the shaft will wobble all over the place. Don't worry folks, thats a good thing as it makes people notice where they are striking the ball. You will actually work up a sweat! No kiddie gimmick here. I like and prefer the Derek Jeter version because it fits better indoors due to the shorten shaft. One buyer posted that it had a flawed design but so far so good for us. I only wish I purchased this sooner. The only con I have noticed is the carry bag. Well, it's crap and I defiantly see breaking in the future, in particular the carry handles due to the weight. I'm going to have to make new arrangements in this area. The equipment is heavy thats for sure, I'm not complaining about that though as the unit is built well but hauling it around for a long distance will have your shoulder barking. I actually carry it to parks but if you won't or will only do so every so often then I would not worry too much about it. To those that will haul it constantly, I would say it's worth dealing with a possible minor problem due to the positive end result.

Bought for 7 yr old son’s first year in coach pitch. Way better than tee ball stand. He goes in the yard almost every day and swings for 20 mins or so. First four practices of the season and he’s hitting anything close. I even bring it to practice for the other kids to get warm. Heavy, but fairly easy to travel in the back of an SUV without breaking the whole thing down. Moms and Dads like to use it too. Highly recommend the investment. Quality item and built to last! UPDATE: A year and a half of use and this beast is still rocking steady. I keep it in the garage in the winter but Texas Spring thru Fall it's in the backyard getting hammered daily. No structural issues whatsoever. I do suggest removing the resistance bands as they get stretched out, but you can tie knots in the end to tighten. My now 9 yr old (7 when purchased) is unbiasedly one of the best hitters in his league. My youngest, now 6, is really starting to refine his swing and reaching the outfield consistently. We still hit off the tee plenty, but having the instant feedback and independence of just you and the Hurricane is invaluable for young hitters. Really gives them confidence. If it's in your budget, go for it!

My daughter’s 8U softball team use to use the ball that was attached to the end of a stick and had to be held by someone. I wanted something more autonomous so, I decided to give this one a try. I am so glad that I did. The apparatus is very solid and sturdy and it has to be because of the constant pounding that it takes. I have found that kids want to crush the ball. It was something different for them and they all want to get a turn. I am surprised at how easy the apparatus is to set up. It takes me about 3 minutes to set up and 2 minutes to break down. The resistance can be adjusted by adding 1 of 3 elastic bands. They are also very easy to add and take away. My daughter’s batting did improve after being introduced to the apparatus. The apparatus is pretty mobile, but I will admit that it is a bit awkward to carry and does not do well in wagons. It can be transported in a wagon, but I would recommend hand carrying it because it is awkward and top heavy, making the wagon susceptible to tipping over. Some minor issues that I had with the apparatus is that the carry bag is not very durable and tore after just traveling with the trainer just once. It still holds the trainer and is usable though. Also, if you set up the trainer incorrectly, the resistance bands can get caught on the trainer arm’s tension knob. That is easily fixed by reversing the side that the knob is on. It took me a while to figure that out. The apparatus fits comfortably in its bag and is easily stored flat on the ground or a shelf. It does not take up much space. This is a nice training tool for all skill levels. It is very easy to set up and breakdown. It could use a better carrying bag though. I highly recommend this product.

I coach U9 softball and this has been a game changer for my team. We’ve only had it for a few practices, but the girls development and coordination has improved tremendously. They’re catching on so fast - I wish I had bought this sooner. This hitting trainer is great. It is very durable and heavy. Everything is made well and strong. This will last!!!! Even with 9 year olds beating the heck out of it. Lol I’ve included pictures of the set up process. It is really slick and easy. I had it put together in under 10 minutes. Tear down was even faster. Plus everything fits in a nice black zippered bag - which is heavy when filled but doesn’t feel like it will rip easily. This is definitely worth the money!!

This is such a good product to improve the batting speed and strength of your bat you can practice a lot of cricket shots without needed to modify the position of the ball, has a lot of durability and is very strong. I wish I could rate this more. 5/5 stars would recommend for cricket practice!

Got this for my daughter to practice batting. We don't have much space to practice so this works perfectly in our small yard. Very easy to take down and set up but very heavy to carry back and forth to ball diamonds. Recommend a portable wagon if you plan to transport any distance.
