Due to nerve damage and swelling I can no longer open bottles of water or Cascade Ice. The pliars are perfect. They're light weight, strong and open wide enough to grab the lids. I now have 1 pair in the kitchen and 1 pair in the car. And I don't have to bother anyone. FYI -- I did buy a 2nd brand of pliars but they were so heavy that I couldn't keep them open with only 1 hand since my other hand holds the bottle.
