A Kinect game worthy even for the most hardcore of COD MW3 fans!
PROS -a true immersive kinect experience -great mini games -great narrative work -character design and voice acting superb -drop in drop out coop -easy to use menu using kinect or voice commands -full set of options to tinker with Cons -to be honest......I CANT THINK OF ANY! Frontier studios thought of everything and left no stone unturned! This is one MUST HAVE kinect game for your library! Kinect controls, as always, work great and the games are great fun, even more than Kinect adventures! They really get into the story and adventure your playing. Once you boot up the game, your presented with the main menu, which you can navigate using voice commands (very useful!) or your hands. One thing that is great about this game is that they have plenty of settings you can tinker with and they also allow you to turn of the music, which helps a lot when one needs to be quiet but can keep the sound effects on. You can start a new game, choose a location for your save file then your plunged into a virtual disneyland. Its been a while since ive been to the real disneyland, but I have to say they developers did a great job capturing the look and feel for disneyland. Even when you open the park map, it actually looks like the one they give you at the park! The visual and audio immersion coupled with kinects augmented reality creates an amazing experience that has you feel like you are part of the disney world. And if you ever need to pause, you hold up both hands and the menu comes down. if you dont feel like using ur hands, you can shout out your menu option, which can be much faster and easier. So the game starts you off by having to do little tasks for mickey (getting autographs and pictures from other characters) which is slow and can get boring for older audiences, but great for kids. And they included a lot of disney universe characters, all of whom you would see at the park. Voice acting is great as well as the personalities of the characters so kids really get a blast out of high fiving, dancing, or taking pictures with some of their favorite old school disney characters. Nonetheless, you are given you first foray into mini games fairly quick and let me say, it is GREAT FUN for all ages. The minigames are actually setup as park rides but are either re imagined rides or newly crafted minigames that help facilitate the story. And again, the cutscenes in between the games really bring the players into the game. Frontier studios did a great job with the narrative for this game as the story line really ties neatly together. But after taking it all in, you realize that the pattern is basically going to meet all the characters, some of whom give you quests which then require you to go on the "rides" aka play minigames to retrieve certain items or objectives for the characters. You get a quest log that details your adventures and your current quest and if you forget where to go, there is always a golden trail that can lead you to your next objective. Since the park is a virtual recreation of disneyland itself, its huge, but rest assured, frontier studios allows users to fast travel to any location by checking the map. A quick look at the map also shows you where your objectives are located. That's basically it for the main game. if you want, you can just walk around the park as frontier did a great job creating an open world environment full of people having their side conversations, kids pulling their parents to their next rides, etc which again does a superb job getting the player fully immersed into the game. If your just into the mingames (which is the good stuff), you can ignore the characters around the park and just search for the minigame entrances. As I said before, mini games truly shine and each one seems unique with no repeats from the previous batch. You get to ski with goofy, fly and shoot your blaster with buzz lightyear, follow the rabbit down the hole with alice and dance with the hatter, and all of it is just great fun. Best part of the game is drop in co-op. Frontier studios made it very easy for the initial player to setup their avatar (you get to create your person since this game does not use your xbox live's avatar) but at any time a friend or family member can join either and run around the park with you with no hassle of signing in or out, all the have to do is walk and stand right next to you. All in all, this is one of the best kinect games out there, and is definitely a must have if you have a younger person in your family. Even if you don't but you're an avid kinect fan, then the minigames in this game outshine the games on kinect adventures, kinect sports, and just about any other game you could think of! Frontier was very creative in crafting them and truly spent their time designing each level and each minigame to have this game be the best experience for consumers. Thank you, Frontier!

Magical!
We bought this game for our kids for Christmas and my wife and I have probably played it as much or more than they have so far. It's a great family game. This game is huge! There is so much stuff to do! The developers really crammed as much stuff in there as they could. You have the whole huge theme park to explore (which is very accurate to the actual thing!), a whole bunch of "attractions" (minigames), and much more. It has been a pretty "magical" experience so far for me and my family.(we're planning on visiting the actual park this year so that makes us even more excited) I had a lot more that I was going to write but if you read the excellent review from Nutwiisystem.com that is currently listed as the "Most Helpful" that is basically what I would say. There are a few other things I would add/change - He said his one gripe was the repetitive gameplay. I don't disagree that the way that a lot of the minigames are played is virtually the same. However they are so varied in the graphics, theme, music and everything that happens during each level that more than makes up for the repetitiveness for me. There are also enough tweaks in a lot of them to keep them from feeling like complete copycats. Multiplayer works well for the most part and adds to the fun. As many have noted there are some issues with characters being assigned random avatars (which may be upsetting for some) during drop in/drop out co-op. I have found that the player that has the profile where the game is saved is the only one that can expect his/her avatar to remain consistent. Even though the game recognizes my daughters and signs them in on their profiles it will still assign them random avatars (although if they have changed into a costume (like a princess dress) the random girl avatar will usually retain that). They have learned to deal with it and don't get too upset (if they want a girl and it assigns a boy, leave the play area and come back and it will switch) ****Update - the random avatar thing isn't an issue anymore. We got it to save so when the Kinect recognizes my daughters or they sign in on their profiles it will have their customized avatars appear. Overall this is a great game and one of my favorite Kinect games. If you have kids, are a kid at heart, or a Disney fan, definitely give this one a look!

Fun game
I bought this game for my four year old for Christmas. She loves it, so does my six year old son. I gave it a three star rating because the game has a hard time recognizing the user. The kids get frequently kicked out and the game is not very good at recognizing their profile. It is a frustration for the kids because it changes them from a girl into a boy. It seems it's just too sensitive. It's not something I have encountered with other kinect games that we have. I know it might be partially due to the dog we have and my fifteen month old whom I can't always keep out of the kinect area, but again I don't have this problem with other Kinect games. The part i was a little disappointed in was the princesses. They don't do games for the princesses, just dancing. It is fun for my daughter, but she loses interest pretty fast. Otherwise the game is a lot of fun. the kids get to run around Disneyland and visit all the characters which they absolutely love. The other games, peter pan, pirates of the Caribbean, etc... are lots of fun. There is a lot to do at the park as well, so I'm not disappointed buying it for them, just because it has so much variety. I love Kinect games. Because we live in an apartment and in the winter the kids can't always go outside and Kinect games leave them active and engaged. Get some of that energy out.

great for the whole family
Great for the whole family. It is like taking a virtual walk through Disneyland. Lots of activities to do. My 3.5-year-old caught on to the "walking" function quickly and others with a little coaching. My only complaint is that when you step out of the play area, the system doesn't sign you back in with the same character consistently. It will assign you a random "guest" character. Other than that slight annoyance, I love this game and so does my little one. I love watching my child play this game. Too cute! It looks just like Disneyland, even the trash cans are in the same spot as in the park. Very cool to see. I hope they make a California Adventure one soon, really fun. My daughter loves the rides more than the missions, but I like seeing her walk around doing favors for the characters. You can even collect autographs and take pictures and find hidden Mickey's. Really cool game. Who can go to Disney for so little money? You can with this game! Sure you have to deal with the Kinect stuff like in any other Kinect game. Disney has really gone out of their way to make Disney come alive for you! It isn't exhaustiveโฆdon't want you to get the wrong idea but it is detailed and thought through enough for you and family to have a blast! yes, you! Get in there and dance with your kids. Itโs the best. Thank you xbox for making a realistic game that the whole family can enjoy. Even my 3.5 yr old can do it!

It's not perfect, but it's right next to actually going to Disneyland
Let's be honest, Disneyland is one of the greatest places on this planet. Disneyland Adventures in a nutshell is Disneyland on an X-Box disk. You are given the freedom to roam the entire park, interact with characters and play mini games related to actual rides. The game attempts to bring the magic of the actual place into your living room, and with a few flaws it succeeds. If you love Disneyland, you will love this game. It doesn't matter how old you are, it's Disneyland, it can and more than likely will bring out your inner child. You play as a child avatar, given the ability to roam Disneyland and do pretty much anything you'd do in the actual park if you were that age with no restrictions. The game is absolutely huge. It gives you a lot of different things to do. The biggest two things to do is interact with the characters and "play" the rides. Believe it or not, the character interaction is better than that of the real Disneyland. Interacting with these characters is interacting with the actual characters. Where as Disneyland you're giving a hug to probably some sweaty fat guy in a Goofy suit. Sure it's not as cute as seeing your 4 year old hug the air in front of them, but for those who know that it's not the real deal, this game is actually better in that aspect. The rides are good at best. There are about 18 (give or take a few) attractions represented here, and they are all fun but don't do the actual ride any justice. On top of that, there are a few attractions that are noticeably missing. Indiana Jones and Star Tours are missing, but those were due to licensing issues that they couldn't get on their side. There are a few other more minor attractions such as the Go-Coaster and Autopia that are not represented, but for the most part they got all of them. A lot of the attractions consist of on-rails flying/running type sections where you have to avoid obstacles and collect coins. The controls, like most Kinect games, are marginal at best, but the inability to lose mini games is kind of nice. Wandering the park is surprisingly fun as the park looks almost like a shot-for-shot replica of the actual park. You can also do things like collect autographs from your favorite characters, do a few fetch quests for some of the characters, collect pins, and visit stores from around the park. There is a ton to do here and you will get sucked into the magic of the game. Unfortunately the game isn't perfect. As stated earlier, the controls for the mini games specifically aren't up to par. For the Kinect, they're just what you'd expect, but they still aren't great. Walking around works just fine, but it's hard to stop in one place to take in your favorite parts of the park or take pictures. Also, my least favorite part of the game is the fact that there isn't an option to ride any of the major attractions. All of them are just games, and you can't re-live most of your favorite rides. You can ride a few of the minor attractions, but they're pretty boring, such as the Dumbo ride. If you love Disneyland, or have kids who love Disneyland, this should be an absolute no-brainer. This isn't as good as going to the actual park, but for the fraction of the price of a one day pass to Disneyland, this game will give you a lot of what Disneyland has to offer, but for the whole family. It does come with its own set of flaws, but it is a truly fantastic game. PROS: + It's Disneyland in your living room + Fantastic re-creation of the entire park + Character interaction is amazing + A ton of stuff to do CONS: - Missing a few notable attractions (Indiana Jones, & Star Tours as well as a few other minor attractions) - No ride the ride option (Not even in DLC form) - Like ALL Kinect games, the controls aren't all that in portions of the game. FINAL SCORE: 8/10

WOW!! What a surprise!
I bought the game for my 8 year old niece, but quickly found that the adults and teenagers in our home were fighting over who would get to play next! The graphics are some of the most beautiful I've ever seen on Xbox360, and the attention to detail is simply amazing. I know there are lots of familys with young children who haven't been able yet to afford going to the park,(I've been there) and this is the closest thing to actually being there that you will ever see! For those who have been to Disney, There are times when (with a little imagination) you really do feel like you're actually at the park, and interacting with the characters who are scattered about is great fun, but I imagine it could get a bit repetitive after a while. I still can't get over the way the game looks, (try finding some youtube videos of the game and you'll see what I mean.) It's a strange feeling to virtually walk around the park, and see places and compare things that you've seen when you were actually there, as an example someone in our group said "there's the table we sat and ate our lunch at!" My family has just started to unlock the seemingly endless quests, minigames, and the like that the game has to offer, so I will probably add to this review after we've played it some more, I just wanted to let anyone who might be looking for that magical Christmas present know that this game is a blast to play, and will suit ANY person who likes Disney no matter their age. It does require a Kinect, whish is a camera looking device that sits atop the tv and allows for a person to interact with the game by just moving their body, instead of using a controller. I would suggest either a new one from Amazon, or possibly looking somewhere like craigslist for one, as you can get them pretty cheap second hand. Well, I have to go now, it looks like it's time for fireworks over Cinderella's castle!

Best 360 Game of 2011
The park is huge, with a million little things to do. The free roaming controls work quite well for exploring the giant map. The rides are robust productions, teeming with cut scenes and clever design choices. I've been through Thunder Mountain I don't know how many times, and I still couldn't tell you how many alternate paths there are through that level. The variety of gameplay is slightly limited, but it's amazing how much mileage they get out of similar activities by mixing them up. Floating along collecting honey with Pooh and battling the pirate ship in Peter Pan, for example, are very similar in terms of controls, but completely different experiences, and both a lot of fun. Online multiplayer, sadly, does not exist, but local multiplayer works great and switches on and off effortlessly as other people move in and out of the camera's view. The Disney characters are surprisingly cool to interact with. It's interesting to see how deep the Disney universe runs in the soul. I'm more of the South Park/Archer crowd, but when Buzz Lightyear deputizes you and hands you a ray gun, it's hard not to feel a little honored. There is a lot of magic in this replication of California's miniature Magic Kingdom. I probably have 50 hours in this by now, and I'm only 22% done with the park. The only thing that keeps this game from being the game of the year at every major magazine and website is prejudice against motion controls. Kinect Disneyland is easily the best new 360 game of 2011.
