All honey is sterile, at least for all practical purposes. That is why honey does not have to be refrigerated. It is naturally sterile in the sense that organisms cannot grow in honey. It is because honey is hygroscopic. It kills bacteria by dehydrating bacteria.

Is this any better then just putting good Manueka honey on your wound? And why if so?

Aside from being sterilized, Wound Honey has Aloe Vera and Panthanol (Vitamin B). These are not only good for wound healing in their own right, but thicken up the honey to a texture that's much more usable. Manuka honey from your grocery story will run and leave a mess. Wound Honey will stay were you put it.

anyone have experience with manuka honey on lips that break out with sores? my husband currently uses acyclovir but I ant sth natural for him instead

I haven't had experience with it for this particular thing, but have use the manuka honey on open wounds and put a bandage over them and they heal very quickly. Don't see why it wouldn't work for your problem as the honey is a healer - (one problem might be that you really can't bandage the lips and you'd probably eat it off!)
