The Closest Thing to a Raw, Vegan Meal
I think I've tried all the vegan protein powders out there. This is the first one that I didn't have to "settle" for. There are others that I like, but this is the only one that is truly smooth, and can be mixed with water, almond milk, or whatever without using a blender. I was amazed at that. Other reviewers comment on the taste. It is one you have to get used to. Americans are addicted to sugar, and to food, in general. For this reason our taste buds are compromised. We have been led by the media to believe that sugary cereals and other highly processed "foods" are "healthy." It is my understanding from all the recent research that sprouted beans, nuts and grains are full of life and health, particularly when they are "raw." I was pleasantly surprised by the ingredient list for this product when I found many sprouted foods. This powder is easy to digest, and I believe the nutrients are most likely easily absorbed and utilized because of the digestive enzymes and probiotics. I have trouble with my digestive tract, and I had no problems at all after drinking this shake. I generally like to use unsweetened almond milk and peppermint oil in my shakes. As far as I know the peppermint oil helps with digestion. And I like the taste. I'm glad I found this powder. I plan to take it camping, along with dried foods. The price is great through Amazon, and I always know that Amazon's customer service is unbeatable. They are one of the only companies I know of that allows you to talk to a person who is truly concerned about your satisfaction and will do anything necessary to prove that quickly. Thanks for carrying this product at such a great price. Update: I've tried even more brands since I wrote this review. I always come back to this one. Not for the taste, but for a few other reasons: 1. It's only 1 point on Weight Watchers. 2. I can always digest this, without any bloating or abdominal cramping at all. 3. I add my coffee to it for an iced coffee drink because the acid in coffee hurts my stomach and bladder. This product must be alkaline because it seems to neutralize the coffee acid. No stomach or bladder pain. The taste is not great and it's gritty. I put one packet of stevia in it. It's worth it to feel so good and it's so easy to stick to a Weight Watchers using this. I will keep buying this.

Great for smoothies
After using Garden of Life's Raw Meal powder for awhile, I switched to their Raw Protein powder because it has fewer sugars (according to the label, less than 1 gram per serving). To me it seems to be a great product. But it doesn't taste good in water alone. So don't even try to drink it in water. Even in juice, it will probably be rather nasty tasting. Instead put it in a smoothie. I currently make the following smoothie almost every day: 1 scoop Raw Protein Romaine lettuce or spinach or kale -- a big handful of leaves, maybe more 1 or 2 bananas 6 frozen strawberries 2 - 3 tablespoons frozen blueberries 1 - 2 frozen beet slices (improves the color) 6 ice cubes about 1 cup rice milk (use enough to keep it from being too thick) 1 teaspoon almond butter (improves the texture) 1 teaspoon maca powder 2 - 3 tablespoons dried goji berries 1 teaspoon vanilla extract tiny amount of stevia powder (less than 1/4 tsp) for sweetening Blend it all thoroughly until smooth. This makes about three tall glasses. I drink the whole thing and love it -- the taste is delicious, and I think anyone would like it, not just raw food / vegan / granola crunchers. If you decide to try this and like it, it's worth buying a couple of fresh beets, slicing them into chunks and storing them in the freezer in a simple cheap plastic canister with a lid, so you can take out a few chunks when you make the smoothie. When I run out of one or more ingredients I make it without the missing item or I add something else I might have (cucumber is a good addition). You can reduce the recipe to just bananas, strawberries (or other frozen berries), lettuce, ice cubes, Raw Protein and maybe some sweetener (try an artificial sweetener if you don't have stevia) and water or milk, and it will taste great. Just don't add broccoli!

Quality ingredients and blends well
I like this protein powder. The vegan ingredients with no sugar or artificial flavors added were very important to me. My smoothies turn out smooth with a great taste. I do detect a slight chalky texture sometimes, but is minimum enough as to not be a hinderance. This is my 2nd order.

Unflavored taste gets some getting use to but I feel a difference in a week!
I've been using whey protein powders but they make me bloated. I've had success with live and pill forms of probiotics and have been happy with the results (NOTE: I have been using this for about 10 days). I bought this on a recommendation and have really noticed a difference. My Advice: If you buy the Unflavored - well it does not taste good at all. When I saw titles that said "yum" and read the packaging calling it "pleasant tasting" you have to know it's not. My boyfriend called it a vomit shake and he's been subjected to every kind of smoothie I've made with crazy ingredients. I said it's that versus his belly and he said "I'll keep the belly!" which he worked hard to exercise off. It's been a week and I'm not picky and am used to eating healthy-tasting food but this is pretty awful even when mixed with blueberries (though I will try the bananas as someone else recommended. I will also try the Vanilla or Choco version - I wanted to see if I could like this first. I tried to mix it in with my oatmeal (since i've sprinkled other vanilla protein powders on breakfat foods with success) and forced it down but it was not pleasant. Aftertaste - Sometimes I will take a little almond butter on a spoon as a chaser. Right now, I'm eating some fennel seeds (what they serve you at Indian restaurants that can freshen any tongue!) But actually I find the more water you use with it, the less it sticks on your tongue. Filling - I feel more satiated throughout the day. I mostly eat eggs/dairy/fish/poultry for protein and sometimes just feel sluggish and get crazy hungry. If I don't take it in the morning, then I take it mid-afternoon and it tides me over before dinner. I also noticed that I'm seeking less savory/sweet snacks since I started - maybe this is just me, but putting it out there. Poo - The main reason I'm taking it daily is this reason. I feel like my digestive system is working better. I eat lots of veggies and fiber and was taking psyllium husks (warning - never take more than you need - I learned the hard way) and drink lots of water, but I have never shat better than I have this week. Seriously. So I never write reviews and shop on Amazon weekly but I had to say that I will buy this again when it runs out. Try it and see if it works the same for you. I will never buy vanilla whey protein or super green protein mix again. Happy Poo'ing.

Integrity of product.
About their claim of 17g protein per scoop- Vegan proteins use ingredients like hemp, rice, and pea because they are among the highest protein sources of plant foods. Whey protein is an extract of protein. Not a whole food. i.e.; isolate" & "concentrate". So plant proteins are more rational because, while ones like I mentioned contain plenty of protein, they are also more alkaline, nutritionally-balanced, whole foods. Especially when ingredients are mixed like hemp, rice, pea. Then the complete range of proteins are present. They also do not contain lactose and therefore are not mucous forming in the body. But Whey protein should still be a higher quantity of protein because it is an extracted, purified protein. This product is also light and airy, which would also lend to less protein per scoop, unless the nutritional facts stated were based on scoops that were packed-in to the scoop. But it would take a lot of experimentation to yield a mix of plant proteins which were more protein-abundant than whey protein. It's not possible and I would like to see proof. I don't think any one plant or sprout is proven to contain enough protein to out-compete whey-isolate or concentrate as far as higher protein quantity. And using more ingredients, as is listed, would only limit their ability to have such a high amount of protein, but it would balance and complete the protein as plant proteins are used in conjunction with others to fill in where others are lacking. Another review states: "The serving size of this product in no way contains 17g of protein. It is an incredibly small scoop of very floury powder, and 17g of a whey protein would take much, much more powder. A raw fibrous protein should take MORE powder than a concentrated protein like whey, not less. Supplements are not regulated by the FDA. The owner of this company is a quack with an online mailed degree, and has been sued before. Please be careful when throwing money away on expensive, fake supplements. You are essentially digesting some sort of sugared flourlike powder. Raw fiberous protein is not floury! I am absolutely positive this product is faking its ingredients. The allergic reactions from people using this product only support my claim. Someone with a science lab should test this product for protein content. I guarantee it would fail." So I am sketched out and will go with Life Basic's Plant protein or MRM Veggie Protein. Both taste great, the former being especially amazing in the vanilla flavor. like an vanilla chai coffee kind of flavor.

Better than expected!
I have been pleasantly surprised by this Garden of Life Vegan Protein Powder. Initially I made it up as directed on the packet, and was concerned that it was going to take some getting used to. It seemed very rich and tasted a bit like under-salted soup so I started trying different additions; some cooked, some raw, some blended in, and some left as chunks; cooled slightly where necessary before being added to the powder. 1 scoop powder, 10 fl oz water, 1/4 tsp salt - bearable, but not delightful 1 scoop powder, 10 fl oz water, 3 oz carrot and 1 oz cabbage (both steamed until soft), 1 tsp onion flakes, 1/4 tsp coriander, 1/4 tsp salt, 1 tsp lemon juice 1 scoop powder, 10 fl oz water, 4-5 oz broccoli steamed, 1/4 tsp salt, nutritional yeast 1 scoop powder, 10 fl oz water, 1/2 yellow pepper (roasted) or 1 zucchini (sliced and roasted), 1/4 tsp salt, 1 small clove garlic 1 scoop powder, 10 fl oz water, 1/2 tin tomatoes, small slice of onion, 1/2 tsp salt, 1 clove garlic, basil 1 scoop powder, 10 fl oz water, various steamed/roasted vegetables (e.g. pepper, green beans, zucchini, cauliflower), 1 tbsp Braggs Aminos, 1 clove garlic, fresh sliced ginger, 1 tbsp PB2, 1 tsp sriracha sauce I am using the shake to help me lose some weight. I have not felt hungry, and the variations are keeping me from being bored, so that's good. The shake is a protein shake and is very low on fiber, so I am looking to rectify that with soy curls which are high fiber for the calories. Edit: Having used this every day for the last 3 weeks, I'd add that it's only gritty if not thoroughly blended, though heating the water slightly also helps. Adding grilled or roasted vegetables (either blended in or chunky) and a clove of garlic takes the drink to a whole new level, and the addition of curry powder occasionally is a lovely addition. For health reasons, I've been on a super strict diet for the last 3 weeks, and this powder has made it totally sustainable. I trust I will feel the same way during the final 5 weeks that I need to stick with it.

Highly Recommend
As a vegan, finding a protein powder that actually blends clean and doesn't leave a weird aftertaste is the whole game, and this one delivers. I use it daily in smoothies across a range of flavor profiles (citrus, green, berry) and it plays nicely with all of them. In a Vitamix, it's completely chunk-free every time. Beyond taste, I've stayed loyal to this brand partly because of its safety track record — vegan protein powders have had a rough history with heavy metal contamination recalls, and Garden of Life has been consistently clean. Probiotics and enzymes are a nice bonus for digestion. One container lasts me a month at daily use. Best for: vegans who are picky about taste and care about ingredient transparency.

Great organic protein powder
Very good vegetarian protein powder. I like that it is not flavoured as I can then use it in sweet or savoury drinks (and soups). It tastes a bit grainy if you use the full recommended dose (1 scoop = 4 tbsp) so I only use haf a dose (2 tbsp) and it is perfect. A must have ingredient for my morning smoothies.

A very clean and digestible protein powder. Excellent in overnight oats.
My favorite protein powder. Zero horrible sweeteners and flavorings, and mixes in very nicely with overnight oats.
