It just arrived today, and we were able to set it up within ten minutes or so. You will need your own screwdriver and possibly a hammer to help push in the stoppers on the tubes. All of the parts and hardware were present. (Just FYI, if you think you are missing the small tube stoppers (part "O"), check inside the small, ball-shaped caps (part "M") before contacting the seller. They might be stuck in those... That's where ours were ;-) . ) On the coat tree we have 3 heavy winter coats, 2 peacoats, 1 leather jacket, 1 very light rain coat, 1 umbrella, 4 pairs of gloves, 3 scarves, and 3 winter hats (believe it or not, we still have 1 open hook on it). Although it does have a slight lean to it, the coat tree is extremely stable -- even with our 4 mischievous cats, I am not worried at all about it toppling over. (If it falls over, I'll edit this review.) From the pictures, I wasn't sure how much to expect out of the hooks midway up the stem, but they are large enough, high enough, and sturdy enough to hold our 2 peacoats, leather jacket, and umbrella, one on each hook. We're using the very top, tall hooks for the hats and whatnot and for one long winter coat that hangs by its hood. In other words, this thing can really hold tons of stuff, especially if you get a little creative (like stacking the hats together on one hook). Unlike with wooden coat trees, I'm not at all concerned about the base splitting or the pegs coming out, and if it were to fall over, I don't really see how it could get damaged in the fall. Technically, I'd rate this 4.5 stars simply because of the slight lean and the slight wobbliness, but as I said above, I am not worried that it can get tipped or wobbled far enough to actually fall over, even with all of our winter gear loaded onto it. The wobbliness has more to do with the lean than with anything being loose; it's like it is just flexible enough to bend a little without losing its balance. Very pleased, especially for a $25 internet-ordered coat tree. I'd definitely recommend it to a friend.

We have always had a coat tree in our front hallway so that coats don't wind up thrown all over the house. It is very convenient! In the past, we have had a wooden coat tree. In fact, we had two in the past, but both of them broke, The wooden pieces are just not strong enough to hold our heavy coats, I guess. This coat tree, however, is made of metal and so far so good. I really don't think that the metal will break like the wood did. The coat tree was easy to put together, done in just a few minutes. It seems mostly sturdy, though it does wobble just a little bit when empty. Once filled with coats, it seems more steady. The large hooks tha tpoint up are a bit tall for short people (like me), but I can manage to get the hood of my coat onto the hook. Just be aware if you are short! The metal finish is nice looking though you can't see too much of it with it full of coats. I would recommend this coat tree as a nice addition to your decor. This is a great coat rack that can stand up to the burden of one heavy coat on each hook. It is perfect for holding winter coats right next to the door during the winter season. The unit is very light and easy to set up. It should only take about 10 minutes to do so, and is straightforward enough to put together without the instructions. During the winter, I have used this to hold a heavy winter coat, a lighter coat I wear under it, suit jackets, tuxedo jacket, and some collar shirts. I have never had a problem with the coat rack tipping over, leaning as a result of the coat's weight, or non-sturdiness. It has always been reliable for my needs. The coat rack definitely looks better in person than it does in these pictures. It is taller than it appears in these pictures, and it is more attractive. It has a sleek look and reflective black finish, and, since it is black, would look good in almost any room. The bottom of the coat rack may wobble a bit, but it is not a problem with the main pole itself. It will not bend or wobble as a result of putting weight on the hooks. It is a problem that exists in the bottom, and one that can easily be remedied by making sure everything is screwed in well and by putting the unit on a level surface. It will not fall as a result of putting any clothes on it, but since it is light, it will fall if it is pushed or if someone falls on it. The small lean should not be a problem, either. Overall, I would recommend this product to anyone who needs an attractive, reliable coat rack.

This is a great coat rack. Reading some of the other reviews has left me scratching my head. Maybe older orders received a different product? Pictures on other reviews don't seem to depict this one (the one I received looks exactly like the one advertised) and there is no part 'O' as described by another reviewer. I will say that some pictures depict a base that has rounded legs and what looks like one center screw holding it all together, This one has wider, more oval legs on the base, and is held together at the bottom by 4 screws, quite securely. This arrived nicely packaged, all parts intact, no rust, all pieces are heavily lacquered and shiny black. The instructions are pretty self explanatory, and even helpfully tell you in what order you should assemble the parts. The center upright piece does screw in quite snugly to the bottom upright piece (it doesn't just sit in it like a previous reviewer stated, there is a large double ended screw included just for that purpose) and it is quite steady. The screws are secured using a hex wrench which is helpfully included. The screw holes are tight, and do require a bit of elbow grease to get the screws seated snugly, but that is good as it means the screws aren't going anywhere once they are in. I was pleasantly surprised at the size and sturdiness of this coat rack, especially for the budget-minded price. I put it together in about 10 minutes, and it is now holding my 10 lb purse, two hats, and 5 jackets quite well. I purposefully didn't hang things equally, just to see if it would wobble or tip, and it did not. I am very pleased with my purchase!

This is an excellent coat rack. I am a short person so it is very tall for me. It is a little tippy. Assembly was a little rough. Still can not get the bottom to sit level. Very pretty all in all great and holds a lot.

I just got this today and seems like it took forever, but got it assembled... reading directions is, well, extremely helpful (I missed the part of putting the screw into the 3rd pole to secure the top 2 but figured it out)... I'm glad I read the other reviews and in anticipation ordered something to put on the legs so the rack would be balanced... and if you do order this be sure to get something to even out the bottom otherwise it will wobble (I think I spent $3.50)... I tested it with a hoodie and my daughter's backpack (which weighs probably close to 10 lbs at this point) and its still stable. The real test will come this winter when we start hanging all our winter coats up... but so far so good... definitely worth the price... oh and no rust on this one! So here's an update for the review... yes I did add a star but we've put this tree through the test... The furniture pads that I put on the bottom of the legs are holding up (it's currently sitting on a rug on the tile floor, well partially on the carpet now that my daughter moved it for the Christmas calendar)... we have several coats hanging on there, all winter of course since its that time of year along with all my husband's ski gear and low and behold it is holding its own with no tipping, balance issues, anything... we absolutely love it, it gives us a place to put our coats when we walk in the door (I'm a nut regarding organization so this just helped me get things even more organized in the house, especially since there isn't a ton of room)... we were hanging coats on the chairs in the dining room, which was driving me nuts and we had to deal with the issue of food and drinks being spilled on them, well no more... worth the money and definitely helps keep things organized and clean... not to mention it doesn't take up a ton of space...

I love it! You can put all your purses in just one place. It looks elegant, is sturdy, and has a nice color.

The coat rack is relatively easy to assemble, and comes with all the tools that you need. The parts themselves are of good quality, and (most) everything fits together as it should. The one gripe I have is what's resulting in a 3-star review instead of a 5-star review, and it's due to a bad design decision. The rack is not well-balanced, and will lean to one side if you put a heavier coat on a specific side of the rack without first counter-weighting the other side of the rack with other coats. This is a result of the design of feet and legs. The feet themselves are very small with a small surface area, and the legs stand vertical (as opposed to being arched,) so all of the weight is distributed directly on to the small feet and none of the weight can be spread throughout an arched leg. Because of the smaller surface area on each foot, there's very little room for error when weight is over-distributed to one side of the rack, and this results in the rack leaning to one side -- the weight can't be spread throughout an arched leg, and instead, it's all pushed onto a small foot which doesn't have the surface area to properly distribute the weight onto the floor. I also noticed that two of the feet sit ever-so-slightly higher than the other two feet, however, this can mostly be adjusted by loosening/tightening the both sets of leg until all four feet sit mostly level. It will hold coats like it's supposed to, however, you can't overload one side of the rack without it leaning over to one side or tipping over.
