I didn't mind paying a bit more than the components were worth, as it was a convenient way to cart everything around in one small package, so the price is OK. The problem and it is a BIG PROBLEM, is the pad: it is SO TOUGH that it ROUTINELY BENDS NEEDLES just trying to perform simple interrupted stitches! Also, unless you're using 2/0 or 3/0, you stand as much of a chance of the suture tearing through the pad as you have of closing the fake wound channels.I just can't adequately describe how tough this pad is! You can forget about practicing ANYTHING other than simple interrupted stitches, because the pad is so touch that you cannot manipulate it to make the actual bites. And while it has colors representing the dermis, the fat, and muscle layers, none of these layers is any different from the others (except for color). Getting a curved cutting needle through this is so hard that the needle was pretty much FLATTENED after three simple sutures!The KIT is noce, and I may buy a decent practice pad and replace the one it came with.If this has a decent pad, it's perfect for the beginner who is just starting to learn the various stitches. But if you're planning to practice with the pad they gave you, FORGET IT!

This is not worth the money. I bought it and was super excited. First impression was that it was very dirty, and the case is poor quality. The pad is a joke. It rips if you do anything but figure of 8 or simple interrupted stitches. The needle driver doesn’t give a good grip due to a weird unedited section, but the scalpel, scissors, and forceps seem fine. The silks are okay but tend to fray, so you would have to keep them keep long. The main thing that bothered me was that it came with no instructions. I cut myself trying to put the scalpel together because I was just trying to “wing” it. It is obvious a beginner would be the largest audience for this kit, so instructions should be included. I was unimpressed.

I will be beginning medical school in the fall and thought I would learn how to suture for fun. I currently work for a doctor's office and have assisted with my fair share of in office suturing, so I am familiar with the instruments and materials. I will say that the instruments provided in this kit (kelly, pick ups, etc.) Are good quality! My only complaint is that the practice pad is THICK rubber. It does not resemble skin at all. My needle bent under the pressure of trying to pass it through both sides of the rubber. I will say that my technique may not be the best as I have never actually performed a suture in real life, however, I do regularly draw blood, give injections, and assist with in office procedures, so I have a good idea of how it should feel when piercing skin. This kit is cheap, and once again everything with the exception of the practice pad is good quality.

As a new primary care physician, some time removed from my surgical rotation, the Kit was great for recovering my rusty suturing skills and practicing a wide range of laceration types. I was also able to use it to teach an assistant who had somehow managed to get through medical school without developing proper suturing skills. I recommend it for medical students, and Doctors who feel that they need a bit of suturing practice tune up.

My daughter is a RN, in college and clinicals for her NP license. Learning how to do proper sutures is a fundamental part of her training. But, not something that she can practice on while doing her clinicals or in class. I bought this practice kit for her and she's really honing her skills. The ebook that comes with the kit is great reference. The practice 'flesh' is just the right consistency and resiliency to duplicate human tissue for practicing. With several wound types, she can practice multiple sutures. And, she can use the same 'wounds' multiple times. There's enough REAL suture kits included that she can get in several practices. Good purchase. Five stars.

I do think this is a great starting set in that it contains all of the essentials to practice suturing. However, I have a couple issues with the suture pad. First, the suture tears through the pad INCREDIBLY easily (on my first intradermal pattern it tore through multiple times). Second, I wish there were more long straight incisions to practice on. I realize there is a scalpel included that I could make my own line with, but there's barely any room on the suture pad to make an additional cut!

All the instruments included are of very poor quality. The silicon pad is small and firmer than it should be. The type of suture materials included, one is too thick making it so difficult to work with and the other is so thin you can hardly see it or grab it with the instruments provided.There are far better products that I bought For the same price or a little more on Amazon. I don’t recommend this product.

This is an excellent training kit. You will not be proficient but you will learn simple stitching that will work. Lots of supplies to learn and practice with.
