It's really strong, but the chicory gives it a mellow quality so it's not bitter. (I'm an herbalist, so I appreciate the presence of chicory as well!) I had to learn how to make it properly so I didn't need so much cream to lighten it- but I found that it's really delicious black. It's the only coffee that I can drink without cream.
