Hirt's Gardens Chinese Money Plant - Pilea peperomiodes - 2.5" Pot

I received this Pilea in June 2025. I was very new to plants in general at that time. I took my time with this plant, researched and learned what it liked. She is now 14” tall and has had over 11 pups over the last 6 months. I have potted those pups, given them to friends/family and they have also grown into big, beautiful Pilea plants. I am now an official plant mom with over 30 houseplants and it all started with my love for this one baby Pilea. I recommend this seller 100%. They packaged the plant with love & care and were quick to get her to me so she wasn’t in a delivery truck for that long. I wanted to share her growth and a review now that I’ve had her for a little over a year. 💚

I absolutely love the plant, unfortunately within a week it withers up and died, not sure what happened… my suggestion? When you receive the plant, if it’s really wet, let it dry out for a few days and move to bigger pot… I will definitely be getting another plant

Beautiful, healthy little plants! I should have taken a picture of the plants as they arrived packaged. Sorry! The dirt was taped in and then the plants were bubble wrapped and boxed. Not a single leaf was damaged! Arrived super fast and in excellent condition! This picture is the next day and the plants just rinsed off and put on my baby plant windowsill. Now to see if I can keep them alive this time…I think I overwatered the last ones! I’m going to try not putting a tray under them so I am forced to just mist the leaves with a water bottle this time! Here’s hoping!!!

Came with 4 real leaves + two that looks like it was cut right off another plant and just stuck in the soil, so obviously those two leaves were hanging way down low when it arrived (but otherwise I was very impressed with the packaging and protection provided for safe shipping). When I went to repot it, there did not seem to be a root system whatsoever from what I could see… kind of skeptical if the four leaves that are left on the plant are actually rooted and going to make it or what’s going on. Gave it optimal soil and conditions so I’ll update this once I know more but as of now I don’t have high hopes. BUYER BEWARE, might not be as good during fall or winter time and perhaps that’s why it has so few roots or leaves, but then why sell them and advertise them as much fuller plants with more leaves?

Just wanted to write a very deserving updated review for this merchant. I purchased a small Pilea from them back in July 2021 and she is still thriving. The merchant is located in Pennsylvania and the plant was shipped to California. Considering how small she was when she arrived and how far she had to travel, I’m amazed at how awesome she is doing. Since my purchase, not only has my plant grown exceptionally well, it has produced two pups as you can see in the photos and they are also doing very well and if you look closely at the mother plant in one of my photos you can see where she has additional pups growing. Although you can only see three new pups there are actually four. Not really big on writing reviews, but I had to come back and post pics of what she looked like when she arrived in California and what she looks like now. From just one small plant, I will eventually end up with seven. Will most definitely buy from this merchant again! Okay that’s all… happy planting! Lol…

Where to begin... Let's start with the good- it arrived early, is the correct plant I ordered, and is the size I expected. When you order a 2.5inch pot, you're asking for a baby plant, and that is indeed what I received. I paid almost as much in shipping as I did for the plant (Plant was 5.99), but I could not source it locally and frankly, I wanted it :) It was shipped in an appropriately sized box, wrapped securely in bubble wrap, with a layer of plastic attempting to keep the loose soil in the pot with only general success. I was impressed that the seller included a heat pack given it's the end of December and delivery was made 1/2/21, and they are in a far cooler location that I am here in sunny central Florida. The not so wonderful- I fully believe this plant was in good shape when it was transplanted into the pot, however the transplant job was badly done. The plant was submerged far too deeply in the medium and as you can see from pic 1 the leaves had begun to rot at the crown and were falling off the plant. Ignore the mini ramekin - these pics were taken after raising it up in the pot by almost half an inch and watering the little guy. I am hopeful that my emergency surgery to lift it out of the medium will be enough- it has 5 leaves, 2 of which show similar damage, but are still connected. I'm crossing my fingers that it will rebound. Would I buy again? Time will tell, but I've had other plants shipped to me with far better, and far worse results.

The plant came as expected. Tiny little thing. Literally a baby pilea. If you are looking for one to grow from infancy this is it. I was excited to receive it because that’s what I wanted. 2 of the leaves fell off and left me with 6. They are healthy and promising. The soil was very moist when it arrive so I am waiting for it it dry out a bit to repot. All in all I am satisfied.

I was so excited for this plant! And it came perfectly packaged and Amazing with new growth. It was bigger than expected which is great. It really needed a good soak because the day it was delivered was 112 degrees but other than that it’s amazing I can’t wait to watch it grow! I will definitely order from Hirt’s gardens again! This is an edit btw I got that plant about a month ago and it’s quadrupled in size I love my Pilea so much! It was a little droopy in the previous pic but now it’s all perked up!
