BEST CROCKPOT EVER!
Best Crockpot EVER! My husband and I are at a point in our lives now where we've made very good use of the things that were first given to us when we were married. It's been over 15 years now and we are ready and slowly starting to upgrade everything from big to small. I have 2 crock pots. One was an older one that was first given to us and it was a nice size one. Another one is a smaller one that was my grandmother's that she used all the time that I most likely will never part with because of the sentiment and it works great. A co-worker recently has been going through a hard time with the divorce and he has to start over. He needed a lot of things that we happen to have. Not only did I use this as an opportunity to be able to help somebody who needed something that I have but I also use the opportunity to upgrade as well. I gave him my old Crock-Pot and order this one because the cooking I do mostly involves my Crockpot to travel which means the handles on the sides and the clip lid where exactly what I was looking for and needed. My old Crock-Pot didn't have any of that it was just basic and made traveling with it very difficult but we made do. I couldn't help myself, I had to break it in when I got it yesterday. The size is amazing and the non-stick,smooth ceramic finish on the inside is beautiful and it was incredibly easy to clean! I cooked a Crock-Pot creamy mac and cheese and it came out extraordinary! It Cooks fast even on a low setting so you can use the low setting and still be fine much like my old one did. I'm not into fancy crock pots that you can program so I do enjoy the manual feature and the ability to be able to pick the high and low speeds on my own. So it Cooks fast. The handles are sturdy and excellent, and I love the clip top lid! I also purchased the thermal carrier that it goes in so moving forward not only can I now make something that we can travel with because of these features, we can put them in the carrying case and I'll make it even more better! My husband is also extremely happy about this purchase because he's normally the one who has to bring it because it's normally for all of his work events! I would definitely recommend this crock pot you will not be disappointed it's excellent quality!

Good quality works well.
This crockpot, has a ceramic insert with a locking lid or portability. Crockpot has actually two settings as opposed to three if I can explain. It appears there is a low and the high setting. But the warm setting is much lower and is not a medium. That's my mistake for not reading the overall description. As I relied on my last crockpot that had a low, medium and high. So keep in mind, the warm setting does not heat up enough to cook. The quality seems adequate, for what you expect on home appliances today. Is nothing bill like the way they used to be. However it seems like this one will work for several years. However the last crock pot I had lasted 20. The top lid has a rubber seal, that makes me also wonder how many years of use one can do before the seal no longer works. I still gave it a five star rating, because it does what it's supposed to do. I placed two frozen chicken breasts on high and within four hours, approximately 2 pounds of chicken were cooked thoroughly. So I that works as it should. I am also liking the oval shape over a round shape, which may be helpful for those wanting to put larger along. Pieces of meat into the crockpot itself. As normally a round crockpot you have to cut the pieces into smaller chunks to fit elongated. I have been using the crockpot now several weeks and it seems to do exactly what it should, keep in mind you will find a quality like you used to. But it does what it's supposed to do and looks attractive in the kitchen.

Nearly 10 years and still works great
I purchased this crock pot in January 2014 and it still works like new. I love to make homemade soups and stews all year long. I've even made refried beans. For a long time I had this one along with the old crock pot that did not have a separate insert. Eventually the old crockpot heating element died. Those old designs were not easy to clean at all. I have found that having the removable insert makes it easy to clean because you can soak it for a day and then scrub it with a brush. Also, I can remove the insert, cover it and keep it in the fridge to later reheat. It is a heavy insert so keep that in mind when you are removing it and it is full. I've had minimal experience with the locking lid since I don't bring it to potluck dinners, just eat at home. There is a vent on the glass cover for steam to escape. I've had no problems at all with denting or melted handles. Not sure why some people had that happen to their model. I have the 6 qt and it fits my needs but sometimes I wish I had the 8 qt. I never go to bed with the crock pot on and never leave the house if it is on either. I know after all this time it won't catch fire but I don't like the risk. If I have to run out for an errand, I will turn it off and then turn it back on again when I return home. I wish there was a feature to automatically shut off like my rice cooker. After all these years, this dependable crock pot is my mainstay and I would buy again.

OK, but not really a 'set it & forget it' crockpot & brand is not the same quality it once was...
I have had several crock pots over the years, from the original basic round version made by Rival without a removable insert back in the 1970's (very few of the later versions have been able to compare to that old workhorse -- wish I still had it!) to more deluxe programmable versions -- last one about 12 years ago. It is still working fine, but it is round, so the shape is not ideal for larger roasts. I also find it to be quite a hassle trying to transport it for potlucks and such (lid taped down, crock pot wrapped in a towel & placed in a box - still sometimes resulting in a mess). Years ago, I used my crock pot once or twice a week, but now that my family is grown, I only need it occasionally. So, when I ran across this manual model on special for a great price during the holidays, I thought I would give it a try. There were lots of reviews for it, both good & bad, so here is my two cents...This is my first oval crock pot and the overall quality of the brand seems to have declined and this is also by far the lightest in weight of all of the crock pots I have owned (none of which have failed, one was lost in a move, I cracked the lid of one and couldn't find a replacement, and I broke the stoneware insert on another). The stainless steel shell on this model would be very easy to damage (dents/scratches) although the stoneware insert seems fine. Heftier extensions on the insert would be nice for lifting it out of the crock pot. I like the idea of the locking lid in principle, but unless I let it air dry in a perfectly vertical position after washing, water can collect inside the clips, can't be reached with a towel. I also don't care for the seal; I thought it would be removable for cleaning like a pressure cooker lid, but as far as I can tell, it is not. After I wash the lid, I use a soft toothbrush to clean around the seal. As far as cooking, this doesn't really seem to be a slow cooker. The first time I used it, I made a four-pound roast and it was done in about half the expected time. I started off on high and turned it down to low after an hour. Luckily, I was home and able to monitor the cooking. With the liquid and vegetables, the crock pot was about 2/3 full and It turned out to be a delicious meal. For the second use, I tried my favorite 13-bean soup loaded with veggies and cooked it on the low setting for the entire time -- in this case, the crock pot was 3/4 full and it took quite a while to come up to heat and considerably longer to finish cooking than the expected time (it was lightly boiling around the edges but not even simmering in the middle) so I turned it up to high to finish it. The veggies were a little overdone so I will need to tweak my recipes a bit in order to use this crock pot efficiently. The high setting comes up to full heat quickly, but boils vigorously and the low setting doesn't heat evenly, so I don't think I will be able to just set and forget this crock pot, which does limit its versatility for me. As many others have mentioned the cord is very short, which I understand is a safety feature, but it seems to me it could be a few inches longer. The stoneware maintains the heat for a long time after turning the unit off. The locking lid works well and will be great for tail-gating or potlucks (my main reason for purchasing, so I don't feel as if I need a fancy model with all of the bells and whistles). Even with the locking lid, transport can still be tricky as the exterior of the crock pot is very hot, so I decided to buy the travel bag for this crock pot, since it was on sale, as well.

7 Quart Crock Pot
Crock Pot brand is great value for the price. Forget digital, all you need is off, warm, low and high. Six- seven quart size is all the average family needs. There is nothing like throwing all the ingredients in the pot the night before and turning it on before you leave for work. The smell you arrive home to is nothing short of wonderful. Highly recommend and also the clamp, secure lid model even though it’s twice the cost. Added note: I’m not a big fan of the 3 point base but once you get used to it, it’s workable. And people complain about the thin sides, folks it’s a low heat cooker. Sides are adequate for the design. Also recommend using the insert cooking bags for easy clean up.

Excellent, reliable, product ~~ it's a "real KEEPER"
Ordered this because of the lid-locking feature (for transport only... do NOT cook with the lid locked). After reading countless, endless, customer reviews about the issues with the programmable slow cookers, decided to just get the "plain vanilla" slow cooker. Made billiard ball size authentic Swedish meatballs that I browned in a skillet & finished cooking 3/4 of the way in the oven in advance of Christmas dinner then refrigerated them. Used this excellent slow cooker to put the sauce and meat together and have everything ready for the family guests without feeling frazzled. The Crock pot heated up perfectly and cooked the meat and sauce to perfection. When turned down to "keep warm", it maintained a safe temperature. If you're a smart cook, you will not choose the programmable slow cooker either due to too many reports of the device shutting itself off before the food is cooked and also overheating to the point of boiling. UPDATE: 10 JANUARY 2015: Am very happy with the quality and function of this excellent SLOW COOKER. To those who complained that it gets too hot, even to the point of boiling, you probably had the lid completely latched. That action would definitely cause that issue. Try reading the instructions because they specifically instruct the customer that the lid should not be latched except for TRANSPORT. I just made the best homemade vegetable soup in my life today with this product and it came out perfectly cooked and delicious. Used some of the leftover skinless turkey breast along with a variety of vegetables. I'm a person who cannot stand eating spinach nor chard but was reading about the health benefits of adding KALE to the diet so I carefully removed all the stems and just put two cups of the hand-torn kale leaves in toward the last 45 minutes of cooking, along with the zucchini slices (both are soft-cooking types). The bottom line of using this excellent slow cooker is: when things appear to "fail", read the instructions. ;)

Works well
I have only used once, but I was pleased with this crockpot. The temperature holds steady. It has an attractive design and I like how you can latch the lid for travel. No complaints.
