The rubberized grooves inside the upper edges help in keeping the knee caps in place and prevent them from rolling down. My only complaint is that these grooves leave imprints on the skin. And when taken off causes lots of itching and redness in the area. That is why I am taking a star off. Hope the manufacturer improves the quality of the product in the future.
