Korg Volca Modular Micro Synthesizer Semi Modular w/ Eight Modules and 16-step Sequencer

Awesome modular sythesizer! I have Korg Volca FM, Bass, Keys, Sample and Mixer and my latest purchase - Korg Volca Modular. For sure I can state that Modular's sequencer is more advanced that on the rest of the Volca synths. You can chain petterns the same as on FM but also you are able to choose scale and tonics! That's just WOW! Also due to ability of creating the patches there are millions of ways how toc reate your unique sound. People even write a books about that! Search it.

It's a great little music maker. A bit of a learning curve here and worth the effort. The Korg Volca line is great for limited space and sounds big.

Because I use the volca modular(2 actually) for exactly what it's designed for, abstract sound design similar to Buchla type synthesis (early electronic composition, Subotnick, etc), it succeeds brilliantly. It is a brave move on Korg's part that anyone who is familiar with the genre should be able to appreciate. Sure it is not on the level of a Buchla Music Easel or Make Noise Shared system, but it's $200.00, and for that low price you get closer to that territory than most affordable subtractive synthesis monosynths at any price. I do have criticisms, so far (and it may just be my learning curve) it has a somewhat limited timbre palette with only a triangle wave to modulate and fold..this gets you a lot but having square, saw, and especially sine, options would be nice. Also the envelopes and low pass gates are responsive enough played from the sequencer, but keyboard control or external cv seems to trigger more slowly, and key board levels are significantly louder than most sequences. Again it may be a learning curve issue with this little box, but not everything, like envelopes and function generated work the same way as what I am expecting. But at a 10th or 20th of the price of similarly oriented modular systems, what is there not to like? Provided you understand what these are intended for.

Volcas are simply mind blowing! Tons of patching ideas to set incredible sounds!

This is a very nice inexpensive hardware synthesizer for those looking to experience semi-modular!

I bought this along with a few other modular hardware synths. The manual is actually helpful. It makes good old school Devo and Kraftwerk sounds. I dig it.

I can’t say anything negative about a musical instrument like the this. I will be bleeping any chance I can get for years to come.

Way too fun. Will eat up many hours and you won’t even know where the time went.

Bonjour, ben pour un live set composé d un sp505, une drumbrute impact, un mini-kp2s et la volca modular couplée avec deux pocket opérateur le sub et le robot, franchement terrible ! Elle est terrible cette petite machine, modulations aux tit oignons pour un live, le séquenceur est très bien pour du live, de l illégal techno old school ! C' est sûr un pro ou un musicien cherchera un synthé clavier , mais franchement le son est bien gras , puissant et on en fait ce que l'on veut 😍 , je suis ravi à ce prix là !

I'm starting to collect these things like special edition Lego sets. It's really fun to experiment with sounds. And create your own unique sounds you can capture to another device turn it into an instrument.

Mein erster semi-modularer Synth. Habe bereits mit anderen Synts rumgeschraubt, daher kannte ich mich mit den Begriffen wie VCO, LFO, VCA, Filter etc. aus. Dieser hier ist anders als die klassische Substraktive Synthese. Es handelt sich hier um additive Synthese (west coast synth). Man kommt aber schnell klar, wenn man sich ein paar youtube videos anschaut. Es macht richtig Spaß mit dem kleinen Teil zu experimentieren. Auch wenn man denkt, man hätte alles wesentliche gesehen, gibt es immer noch Überraschungen, bzw. neue Ideen auf youtube, die man nachbauen kann. Man kann auch sein eigenes Breadboard nehmen, wenn einem die Split Funktion nicht ausreicht und so ein Signal auf z.B. mehr als Ausgänge erweitern, oder eigene Regler anschließen. Ich bin echt begeistert von dem Teil! Zum Rumspielen und Soundkreieren einfach super geeignet. Ob man am Ende mit den Sounds was anfangen kann sei dahingestellt, aber ich finde es einen guten Einstieg in modulare Synthesizer!
