Review: Delicious AIP baked treats + holiday treats! Highly recommend! - I bought this cookbook specifically for the holiday and baking section while we are working on figuring out food allergies for my daughter. She was missing homemade gluten free baked treats and this cookbook has helped so much! I’ve made the Coffee Shop Pumpkin Scones several times because they’re so good! I highly recommend them, my whole family loves them. Since we’re not eating coconut right now, I substituted melted palm shortening for the coconut oil and 1/4 cup Otto’s cassava flour for the coconut flour and they turn out perfect every time. I’ve also made the “Chocolate” Chunk Cookies several times without the carob chips - they are a huge hit with my little one and my husband. I’ve also made the Mint Chip Brownies without the mint frosting - both my daughter and husband said they’re delicious. I’ve made the “Chocolate” Cupcakes once and they turned out great with a nice texture. I’ve also made the waffles which have the best flavor - my waffle maker must have needed more greasing because they kept sticking for me, but I’m sure that was specific to my waffle maker. During the holidays I made a double batch of the Gingerbread Cookies which are SO good! My daughter was so happy to have Christmas cookies that she could eat. Santa loved the cookies too! They did puff up more than I’m used to with gluten free gingerbread cookies, so the next time I make them I will omit the baking soda. I did add more cinnamon because that’s the way my family likes gingerbread cookies. I also had to chill the dough in order to be able to roll it out for the cookie cutters, which may have been a result from my doubling the recipe. These cookies freeze great too! While my husband and I haven’t cooked from the savory recipes yet, they look delicious and spot on for easy and healthy recipes. Michelle’s photography is lovely too, there’s beautiful photos throughout the cookbook. Review: A MUST HAVE for AIP elimination phase! - This cookbook is a must have for anyone in the elimination phase of AIP. This has made it feel much easier and less restrictive with delicious, flavorful recipes. If I listed all of my favorites, I’d basically be copying the heading of nearly every page. But the price of the entire book is worth the HOLD-The-Bagel Lox Breakfast Salad with Cream “Cheese” Dressing recipe. It’s a recipe I skipped over when I first got the book, but now wish I’d tried sooner! Don’t skip over any recipe in this cookbook, even if it doesn’t seem like something you’d typically enjoy. I didn’t think bagel toppings would make a good salad, and I was SO very wrong. Let this cookbook prove you wrong, too, and find out how much you can enjoy a flavorful meal, even on the restrictive elimination phase of AIP. Your tastebuds will be so pleased!

Beautiful book with fantastic recipes!
I have been following Michelle Hoover's blog for quite some time and have made quite a number of her recipes. they have always been very tasty, easy and comforting, especially all the different varieties of chicken poppers. so when I saw that she was putting out a cookbook I had to pre-order it. I am so glad I did. The photos and the layout are absolutely beautiful. There's a lot of great information in the front about the autoimmune protocol (AIP). The recipes just look so amazing. I just got finished making the Cauliflower "Mac and Cheese" and it is incredible. I've also made the biscuits and sausage gravy and couldn't believe that was not dairy. I would definitely recommend this book. Even if you don't follow the AIP or paleo diets, it is nice to have some healthier versions of comforting food.

Pretty good book.
Wish there were more alternatives listed throughout for coconut allergy. It’s coconut butter, oil, flour… in everything. I’ve had to look online for substitutions.

Great recipes.
My doctor recommended that I do the AIP diet to address my hashimotos. This was not an easy diet to be on and felt so restrictive. However, this book helped tremendously. Everything I made from it tasted great! The recipes were all really easy to make and didn’t require expensive ingredients.

Well written and illustrated. FULL of delicious recipes!
I haven’t yet made any of the recipes in this book BUT, just from browsing through it I am excited to start making some! I read the intro and the first two chapters. They are so well written and inspiring. I stumbled on the AIP as a result of a rheumatoid arthritis diagnosis about 10 years ago. However, I just wasn’t ready for a lifestyle change. Now, as a result of a recent flare up, my age, and the fact that I’m not getting any younger, I took it seriously. I had another AIP book which I purchased about 4-5 years ago that I started using just over two weeks ago. Then, I finally decided to purchase this one, The Autoimmune Protocol Comfort Food Cookbook. Boy do I wish I’d purchased this one first! I probably would have started on the AIP path earlier. I’ll circle back to update my review once I’ve tried some of the recipes.

Michelle is a genius!
AIP is a crazy hard diet to follow until you get in the swing of things. Michelle made that transition SO much easier with this book! This is my second time following an AIP diet and having this book made a huge difference this time around! Biscuits and Gravy, Egg Roll in a Bowl, Nomato Sauce, Pizza and the list goes on. I have yet to make a recipe my husband and I didn’t like and let me tell you, I’ve made many of the recipes in this book!! I highly recommend you purchase this book even if you’re not following an AIP diet. Everything has been absolutely delicious! Thank you Michelle for all of the amazing recipes in this book and on your blog! You are truly gifted!

Accurate Information & Nice Variety of Recipes
In my search for help with starting an AIP way of eating, I have struggled with finding reliable resources that worked for me. A lot of what is promoted as AIP or Anti-Inflammatory is anything but, and seems to be assembled hastily by unqualified authors before what they see as a fad runs its course. Finding this book was a relief. A quick note to any fellow migraine sufferers to say that some of the ingredients will need to be substituted if you know they are triggers for you. Some of the recipes here feature onions, apple cider vinegar, collagen, gelatine, and some fermented items. You can easily find info on migraine diet triggers and substitutions online. Michelle Hoover has walked the walk with this way of eating, and has had a successful website for a number of years. The tone of the book is easygoing and there is just enough information about AIP to inform, but it is a cookbook and that makes up the majority of the book, which is a relief. There is enough info about autoimmune conditions out for those interested in the medical information. Here we cut to the recipes quick. The recipes are accessible and I found very few ingredients that I couldn't find either at a major shop or online. That being said, they do need to be prepared from scratch, so if you are expecting a way to throw together "convenience" food and make this work, it won't happen. You will have to prep and cook. Though the plan is to eat this way for at least a month before reintroducing foods, do what you can if it seems overwhelming to start. Every step away from inflammatory foods and stress will pay off. Please don't be put off by the misinformed negative review. A quick search for info on AIP would clearly reveal that it is not a vegetarian or vegan diet, and is not intended to be. It is standard knowledge that meat and seafood are part of the plan, and bone broth is featured. Both the front and back cover of the book, the description as we'll as the "Look Inside" feature show this. Last I heard Amazon also had a liberal return policy.

Best recipe book for Rheumatoid Arthritis safe recipes
Bought this for my daughter in law who suffers from Rheumatoid Arthritis. She has prepared 2 recipes from the book shortly after receiving it and loves the book. Picture 1) Beef Mongolian with cauliflower rice. Picture 2) Brownies.

Good book to buy
Excellent book. Easy to read, easy to make the food. Someone wrote that this isn’t a vegan book, you can see from the front cover it’s not. Even when you scroll through the pages, it shows meat dishes ! But anyhoo, it’s a good book to buy
