This little watercolor set is awesome. The colors are vibrant as you can see in the color chart that I filled in from the kit. As of yet I haven’t completed the color wheel, but it will be such a big help! Having the color chart and a color wheel is an added bonus. Then I had the surprise of an additional mixing pan under the paints! I think there is space to add two more half pans of colors that I like. I know that magenta will be my first addition. I am going on a big adventure in a few months and this is definitely going with me!

I am shocked this beautiful set of 12 perfect colors for singular use or mixing is no longer available. I am sick about this. These paints are better than their new larger set. I believe these 12 half pans were selected by professional artists but don’t quote me on this. I was able to create any color including secondary and tertiary colors by the specific colors they choose for this set. Colors are clear and intense and are easily made sheer by using more water. They are easy to activate, easy to use and last forever. Great, satisfying texture too. I don’t think they were listed as lightfast but I have paintings from 5 years ago using this set that have held up beautifully but we’re not exposed to light. I know this is not a measure to qualify watercolors as “lightfast” but I have many practice paintings, painting drills and just having fun creating colors with other brands of paint that faded drastically and changed the colors even though they never saw the light of day. These and 1 other 12 pc 1/2 pan set has been discontinued have been my favorite paints to carry with me or just feeling inspired to paint. SCHPIRERR FARBEN, PLEASE make this excellent 12 piece set available again. I am not a fan of your new larger watercolor set. This 12 piece set made mixing colors fun with beautiful results.

This paint is good quality, not quite pro. but good. The paint box is nice and feels good in your hand,nice size and sturdy too. The colors mix well. I needed to add a couple drops of water to the pan to keep the block of paint in place. I also put a bit of tickey - tack under each pan to make sure it stayed in the paint-box. Not a big deal. I almost always need to do this anyway. There is room enough in the case to add another row of pans (sideways) and you could swap out the pans that came in the box with others you like more. You can't buy single colors to replace empty pans, so I intend to refill the pans as they empty from tubes or buy a different brand of half pan. Eventually I will have a personalized palette in a good quality paint box and I will probably buy another one of these. Good paint, good price so, good review!

I will be honest, I did not buy this set for the paints. I bought this set solely for the case, which has a ring on the bottom to hold it easily in your hand while painting, as well as two fold out sections to mix paint in. That said, I figured I'd give the paints a chance, and they have more than surpassed my expectations, especially for such a low price-these paints are smooth and gorgeous and rich, and the colors you are given are a good variety; each useful in their own way. I wasn't sold on the Ultramarine Blue at first, but I used it to paint the reflection of the cloud in the pond, and I found it incredibly useful for that. Please ignore the green in the orange section of my color wheel-I know how colors work, I swear I do, I'm just a very easily distracted man. Overal, this is an excellent watercolor kit, a beautiful case, and very worthwhile paints. I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone beginner-to-intermediate-to-just-needing-a-nice-travel-set.

Nice set and these colors ARE vibrant and remain that way when dry! Easy to wet for use and I like the compact container . My only comment is the "color wheel" included with the swatch page. These particular colors do not line up for a color wheel so I guess I am supposed to learn to mix my own to fit the wheel. Good practice for me. Swatch part is nicely laid out and handy.

Listen, you who are scrolling and comparing portable watercolor pallets - STOP. This is the one. Colors are vibrant. Primary colors are bold. Good selection of non primary colors. Good quality metal case. Excellent price. Optimal use of surface area for blending. Secure storage for the paint bins, and room for painting utensils in the middle. I am an artist and carry a sketchpad and watercolors almost everywhere. I've gone through 3. This is by far the best. If you don't want small, then this might not be for you. But the compactness is exactly what I was having a hard time finding. This does everything for me. Pretty sure I'm never buying any other but this now. #spoiled

The colors are super bright and vibrant. They wet easily, also the pallet is pretty sturdy. For the swatch sheet, which feels like it was hot press paper, the colors glided on smoothly. The mixing pans tilt downwards on both sides, so the paint can fill the separate areas without spilling back into the pallet. I think this will be a great addition to my watercolor paints. It seems like these would be great colors for outdoors. The brushes they sent were nicely packaged, had a protective to us, and our four detail work, there are two of each type. I’m happy with my purchase and excited to start on this set.

I have quite a large collection of some of the more expensive artist grade paints - Daniel Smith, Winsor and Newton, Mijello mission gold single pigments... But there is something about this little set that just makes me smile every time I look at it and when I think about it. It’s playful colour selection reminds me (in a very good way) of a child’s paint set, bright happy colours, easy to use, nothing too hard to think about. But the pigments painted out on initial testing just as well as any other high quality watercolours. The pigments were not super saturated, but I really enjoyed their more subtle tones. The colour wheel I was able to create was beautiful and the colours mix well together and did not make mud. I only knocked off one star as I was not able to find out any pigment or lightfast info, and I did contact Schpirrer Farben through their FB site on a few occasions with no answer, so I’m reluctant to use it on any paintings that may be displayed on a wall until I find out about lightfastness. However, as a quick, easy, portable travel sketching set in a sketchbook, this would be perfect. I look forward to trying these paints out more thoroughly in future
