Bought this because I wanted to upgrade the SSD in my laptop from 128gb to 2TB as I was constantly running out of space. Bought this cable because unlike a PC my laptop doesnt have the ability to have multiple drives installed within the case.The lead worked great to clone my old drive onto the new one but with a few initial issues. The lead on this cable is very short, as such its difficult to get the new drive into a stable position while you set the process going. I had the clone fail 3 or 4 times because the drive would move or get knocked accidentally and moving the cable a tiny fraction caused it to disconnect from the laptop, but it got there in the end and now everything is up and running perfectly.

It works perfectly. This is one of those products which tends to either get one star or five stars, because it either does the job or it doesn't. This one does. I used it to connect an SSD to my laptop to clone a drive, and it all went smoothly. Really, there is nothing else to say other than that everything feels solid, but because cloning a drive is something I do fairly infrequently then I can't comment on durability. It might be months before I need to use it again, and unless you're a professional doing this on a daily basis then I imagine your experience will be similar to mine. How many times will most people need this in a lifetime - half a dozen? If it works first time you use it, I feel pretty sure that it'll work next time and the time after that, so you can buy this with confidence.

It works but USB to SATA still provides significant difficulties especially when needing to view S.M.A.R.T data on SATA HDD's

I did find this cable really easy to use and extremely happy as I could get my old things off my hard drive. I would have liked it to be a it cheaper though.

So used to replace my laptop HD with a SSD at which it worked as described by others in their reviews. Would recommend for HD if you want to upgrade to SSD.
