Inexpensive, easy to set-up and use.
I purchased the Yamaha 8" subwoofer to go with a pair of Dayton Audio B652 bookshelf speakers and powered by a Fosi Audio BT30D amplifier. The sound from the Dayton Audio speakers is quite good, but the subwoofer provided a noticeable improvement, especially in classical music and marches. After setting the Yamaha's level control it is unnecessary to make any further adjustments. The Fosi amplifier has separate outputs to handle powered or passive subwoofers. The amp also provides a control to make some adjustment to the point in the frequency range where subwoofer activates

Great sound at a great price!
Added this to a Yamaha sound bar and it makes all the difference in the world! Enhances audio on all formats ( music and spoken word) without costing a fortune. Seems to work best in small to medium sized rooms ( mine is 15’ x 15’ ) Not a top of the line audio component, but if you are looking to enhance your TV viewing at a low cost, this is it.

Low profile subwoofer with Yamaha quality. Works fine , I'm using it to augment 2 boston acoustics satellite speakers. Bass quality is a little loose or diffuse, but definitely OK for the price. Recommended!
