Can I use steam on this wool pressing mat?

For best results, we recommend primarily using a dry iron. If steam is needed, use it sparingly. Excessive moisture or prolonged steaming may cause the wool fibers to retain moisture or develop a temporary wool odor.

Why is there some black residue on my pad and fabric after ironing?

You have used a too high temperature on the mat that burns some fibers on the surface, adjust your iron to a more suitable heat and this will stop.

Does the wool pressing mat have a smell?

Because this mat is made from wool, a mild wool scent may be noticeable when first opened or when heated with an iron. This is normal for wool and usually fades with airing and regular use.
