THEY WORKED... but it took 2 of them in each of our cars
My wife's new car started shuddering and making horrible noises last weekend. We took it to the mechanic and were informed that there was a big rodents next behind her engine and they had chewed through 2 of the wires. I immediately bought this double set of sound makers, 1 for each car. When I installed them, the following morning I looked under the hood... and there were new rat droppings on top of both of our engines, and new leaves debris that the rats had pulled back into our engine compartments. I figured... our cars have large engine compartments, with tons of nooks and crannies. We should probably have 1 on each side of our engine compartments for our cars. I bought a 2nd pair of these. So we each have 1 on the left and the right side of our cars engine compartments. It has now been 4 straight days without ANY signs whatsoever of rodents under our hoods. No droppings, no debris, foilage... nothing. We are extremely happy. Yes... it took having to have 2 of these for each of our cars, but that's a small price to pay to not have to deal with it again. The only annoying thing is that the battery compartment is on the BACK of these units. So in 40 days when I go to put in fresh batteries... I'm going to have to cut the zip ties and completely remove the units. Replace the batteries, then re-zip tie them back in. It would be MUCH nicer if these held the batteries towards the front of the unit, so that the backing could stay secured in place when you swap batteries. But it's a minor inconvenience compared to the benefits.

These worked for us.
I live in a rural area and husband and I park our cars (Honda Fit and Honda CRV) outdoors. Not wanting mice in our cars, we opted to try these to see if they would help keep the rodents out. (Husband first suggested traps in the vehicles, but I wasn't keen on dealing with that every time I got in the car! [Yes, I'm shuddering.] I also wasn't willing to put poison or animal urine in my car. [Once again, this choice is also out.] ) We each put one device on the console between the front seats and turned them on. After a couple of days, no more droppings or evidence of unwanted visitors. The device seems to work well. We've had storms daily lately and our cars remain mice free. Storms generally cause mice to seek our cars for shelter. It's been two weeks now and no mice in our cars or under the hood. Our cars are parked in the same spots since before purchasing these handy gadgets. I don't think it is a coincidence that they are gone. I've scheduled the battery change outs on the calendar. Price of batteries=no mice in cars. I can live with that equation. I am just a customer. I bought these units from Amazon and received no discount or service for my review. My review is my opinion. UPDATE: It's now been a month. There is still no more evidence of any rodents in my car. I still park in the same place. The only difference is having this device in my car. My husband and I are believers that these Loraffe devices work. It took two days in the beginning to clear out all our intruders. After that, they haven't returned. This was an easy fix for an annoying problem.

Update to changes
So, based on the mostly positive reviews I decided to give these a try. I even went above and beyond to prepare my car, as I had the engine compartment professionally cleaned to get rid of any trace of prior rodent activity. I placed one of these in the engine compartment using the ties, and the other sits in the cubby near the gear shift. For the first couple of months, I didnโt see any activity. However, one day I am driving and my odometer stops working. Then the check engine light comes on followed by the steering indicator light. And about the same time I lose power steering. Took it to our mechanic and sure enough, rodents had chewed through several wires causing the problem. Fortunately it only cost $270.00 to fix. I say fortunately, because our Toyota Corolla had $2,500.00 in rodent damage about seven years prior. Needless to say, these Ultrasonic Rat Repellants didnโt do jack! 8/23/22 I have an update and in turn, I am raising my rating. So, after they didn't work as described, I decided to try them with the sound on (in Test mode). And guess what? After 3 weeks of parking it in the same spot, they did not eat the wires again. In fact, I see no evidence of them being in the engine compartment since the last episode. I will continue to use them with the sound on. If they didn't work for anyone else in the Ultrasonic mode, then try them with the sound on. It has worked for me so far.

Fantastic
Recently my car was infested with rats (due to HOA in the large condo complex I live in not taking care of the garbage area) in the parking garage. Over 10 cars became infested with the rats inside and out. One car suffered $10,000 damage. I spent easily $650 to get the car fixed and purchase a number of repellents for future use. These fantastic Loraffe 2 Pack Under Hood Animal Repeller Battery Operated Rodent Repellent Ultrasonic Rat Deterrent have been one of the last things I placed in the car after my RAV4 was detailed inside and repaired under the hood. I placed one Loraffe Animal Repeller Battery Operated Rodent Repellents in the back area of the car towards the side of the trunk. I placed the other in the front on the passenger side by the console. They both have fresh batteries and are FANTASTIC. What I love is that they do not go off unless there is movement within the car. So when I get into the care -- they both take charge and it becomes a light show disco with sirens going off. This is hysterical when in the car for a short drive to keep the car running and the battery alive. I have another repellent for the under the hood -- but my mechanic is backed up and needs my care for at least two hours to install. In the meantime I am spraying peppermint oil under the car all around -- to keep any further intruders out. By the way - these Loraffe 2 Pack Under Hood Animal Repeller Battery Operated Rodent Repellents also seem like a great SECOND car alarm to what I have installed for any potential human intruders! Either way these look EXACTLY as shown and work great! I placed a reminder on my calendar to replace the batteries in 45 days (lifetime suggested in the instructions) -- but with the way they shut off when the car is still -- the batteries may last much longer.

LOVE these
Before ordering, we had no idea if these would work. Based on research, it's a toss-up. These and a few other gadgets like this have been installed and on 24/7 throughout our house for several weeks, and the number of mice seen has gone from one (or heaven forbid, two) a week to zero. None in the traps or caught by our cats. The only thing changed is adding these electronic repellers. Our cats are disappointed at the reduction in play toys, but we are not and neither is our pest control guy. When we set these up, he couldn't say if they'd work or not, but even he is impressed that there has been a major reduction in mice even though it's freezing outside and the mouse population should have gone up inside as mice seek shelter from the weather. We live in the country, so mice are a given. We have cats and a dog, so we don't want to use any kind of poison since our cats have gotten ahold of a couple of mice. If the mice are poisoned and the cat eat them, it would probably be too late for vet care before we realized what happened. Of course we take all the preventative steps we can like not leaving any pet or people food out, putting out pet safe mice deterrent, etc. There are baited snap traps all over the attic, basement, closets, etc. but mice would still sneak into the house. Even our pest control guy said that without poison baiting, it would be a constant battle since mice can get into a home through the teeniest openings and a house in a place where they have a lot of natural predators is a spot mice will seek out for safety. We live across from a nature preserve with several species of predator birds such as eagles and hawks as well as coyotes, foxes, and such. These little battery powered units are easy to operate. We just had to set a reminder on the calendar to change out the batteries every five to six weeks. None of uur pets are not bothered by the lights or noises put out through the speakers. They're also small enough to be put almost anywhere, and are not intrusive in the least. So far they have been amazing in our constant battle against mice and even a random squirrel, and we highly recommend.

Not sure about these
I just installed these on a motorhome. The first thing I noticed is that the battery cover is on the bottom of the unit so that if you want to mount it on a flat surface, you will have to unmount it to change the batteries. The battery cover is also attached by a very small screw. The screw is loose instead of having a way of sticking to the cover. The chances of losing that screw are extremely high. In their defense, they supply you with extra screws and plenty of wire ties for mounting. I'm fairly disorganized, so finding my little packet of screws and wire ties when it comes time to change the batteries, is highly unlikely. The wire ties were a good way to mount these-no screws needed. A great improvement on this product would be a side access for batteries with a door that clips on without a teeny tiny screw. The second thing I noticed after installing the batteries: The first unit cycled every 15 seconds or so...with an audible beep. That doesn't sound like ultrasonic to me. The second unit flashed once, with no audible sound, and then did nothing. It took me awhile to realize it was cycling every 5 minutes or so. On the second cycle, only the green light lit. Instead of flashing, it stayed on for several seconds. On the third cycle, all the lights flashed like they are supposed to. I have no idea if these things will actually work yet. I have doubts because of the difference in how differently the two I got operated. I hope they do. I bought these because mice decided my main wiring harness would make a nice meal. That cost me $3,500.00. I wish I could review the idiots that thought using a soy product for a wiring harness was a good idea. Duh. Might as well smear it with peanut butter.

They Have A Low Battery Alarm
I bought a newer truck. This can mean soy or plant based wire insulation (aka packrat food) so I bought a couple of these and a couple magnetic backed ones that flash only. Itโs like a disco under the hood. These are harder to install compared to the magnetic backed ones as they have to hang from something (supplied zip ties). They do make some cool noises in sequence and one sounds brings to mind that of a rodent chewing or scuttling around. I would recommend hanging them from the loops that are not on the side of the battery as it will block the battery compartment. I did this thinking it would be easier is the battery was on top and had to take them down to change the batteries. About a month later I began to hear a faint beeping sound. I thought someone a few acres over let their car alarm go day and night and wondered if they were on vacation and when the battery would die. It went on day and night. Then a few nights later, with horror, I realized it was coming from my new truck. There was something terribly wrong and with all the computer components it is sure to be expensive. I read the manual finally and learned the door would lock and unlock by touch without pushing a button, how to unlock the floor mats, that the back window opens with a button and if I get stuck off road I can flip a switch and it will crawl out on its own, but I could find no reason for the beeping. This truck has a fit if there is a case of water on the passenger seat and it beeps if you change lanes without using a turn signal. I figured the computer was upset about something. But what? So I searched on line. There are dozens of forums and hundreds folks at witโs end, paying thousands in diagnostics, gaslit by dealers and manufacturers, haunted by strange beeping noises coming from their trucks. The future looked bleak. Suddenly the thought came me that maybe these had an alarm. I looked under the hood again and one of them was clearly the source of the beeping. The relief was immense. The manual confirmed that they a have low battery alarm. It is a great feature. Recommendation #2 to read the manual.

No rat problem since
Okay it is still flashing away after a few months and seems to be working or the cats have picked up their game. Non intrusive in engine bay and cable tied ( zip tied๐ฑ๐ท) to solid panel section.
