ZIWI Peak Air-Dried Dog Food – Mackerel & Lamb - All Natural, High Protein, Grain Free, Limited Ingredient w/ Superfoods (140.8oz)

I wholeheartedly believe a raw diet is the best diet for dogs but found that it was very time consuming to prepare my dogs food myself and I constantly feared I was missing vital nutrients, vitamins or minerals. I purchased this food for convenience for the pet sitter when I went on vacation. My dogs loved it! I have now consistently been feeding it for several years now and my dogs are happy and at peak health. I find it best to figure out the calories your dog needs, they have an easy calculator, and weigh the food out rather than using a measuring cup. For my 70 pound, lazy dog, she gets 3.8 ounces of the chicken flavor in the morning and 4.2 ounces of the mackerel and lamb at night to meet her calorie needs. Weighing the food is best due to the way the food is made, you can have inconsistent sizes of food which will fill the cup differently. Some complain that this food is overpriced. Once you calculate your dog’s caloric needs, this food becomes more cost effective, especially compared to other high quality, pre-prepared, raw diet foods. It is also more convenient. Some complain that there are crumbles and powder in their bags. It is important to remember that this is an all natural food meaning there are no fillers such as starches. Starches are what make other foods firm and crunchy. So yes, you can expect some crumbles, sometimes more than others depending on the handling of the bags. However, the crumbles and powder are not wasted!! They are still high nutrient food. Don’t throw them away. My dogs happily licks them up from the bowl. This is another reason it’s best to weigh the food. My somewhat complaint. I’m not going to lie, the food kind of stinks, but it’s a raw diet so that is to be expected it’s just one of the downfalls. The chicken flavor isn’t bad, but the mackerel & lamb? Well, it’s fish and lamb so it shouldn’t be surprising. What is surprising, is that it doesn’t linger on my dogs breath. My complaint. They recently changed their packaging and I am not a fan. The bags used to have strong handles at the tops of the bags, they sealed back up easily and they had a perfect size scoop in them. Now there are no handles, no scoop, and sometimes I have to work the ziplock type seal. Hands down, will continue to feed and recommend this food!

Lemme tell you, friends. We have 24 animals, and every single one of them, canine or feline, think these are manna from the sky. They are addicted to their Ziwi. I love using them for training sessions - they're small, don't dirty your pocket, and are easy to dispense. I also love using them when I have to lure a stubborn dog into a crate or lead a cat across the house into another room. All our animals are raw fed, and I feel good giving them this product - simple, clean, healthy ingredients. BTW, there is no real difference between these labeled for dogs or for cats, aside of size. I generally prefer buying cat ones because they're smaller and more conducive to use as training rewards. These are all my household uses for treats, and we've been using them for many years. Mind you, my family are all animal fanatics and we feed the furry crew better than ourselves - I'm not sure how this price would fly with an average pet owner. These are unnecessarily expensive. I can't imagine using them for actual everyday food. I'd need to be independently wealthy for that. In my house they're strictly treats.

My very picky Biewer Terriers will eat it. I've spent a small fortune trying to find something that my two dogs will eat. They will eat this and the Zeal Salmon and Duck, also from New Zealand. Worth the expense because it's not going to feed the neighbors dogs.

I regularly bought Ziwi from various pet stores online & in person when on sale since it's very pricey. This is the first time I've purchased it from Amazon & I was pleasantly surprised to see the expiration date was for over 1 year when it arrived today😀 I'm guessing this is a fresh batch because most places do not have the 8.8lb Mackerel in stock. FYI it does smell like fish which you'd expect. I use it as a healthy training treat when my dogs were puppies and they eat about 2.5 scoops a day total between consuming it as treats & dinner. My dogs are 50 & 70lbs Nordic breed. I volunteer for rescue and have not had a sled dog breed that hasn't loved it with no digestive problems. They have all transitioned to it well. The food is very rich high protein so I would not feed it solely. My dogs do well with 50% Ziwi+50% fresh made.

Excellent product, great ingredient label. Unfortunately my dog got bored with it so I didn’t get it again.

My dog trainer said to purchase this for a dog treat. It does work well for that, but it STINKS.

My little girl loves this food, but I would not buy that canned food. She will not eat it. That was a waste of my hard earned money.

My 4 pound Maltese LOVES these small bites! I use them for good behavior, training and playing. Also from what information I could dig up, they appear to be a clean healthy choice. I keep a pill bottle full of them in different places through out the house so I always have them where I need them to reward her. I even take one with me in the car for her being good and quiet in her car seat. Of all the different treats and food, I have to say this one is her favorite!

Dogs and cats love this stuff and it’s good for them. We sprinkle it on their other food to make it last.

Wir kaufen tendenziell teures Hundefutter. Unser Labrador verträgt viele Inhaltsstoffe nicht und hat abgenommen. Zum Gewicht zulegen habe ich jetzt dieses Futter mit Makrelen gekauft. Er liebt es!
