Yakima PowderHound 6 Ski & Snowboard Car Roof Rack for Crossbars

I was in between these and thule ski racks. Yakima’s were half the price and seemed pretty good for my needs. I got them, installation was a breeze, use even more practical, fits 2 sets of skis easily. I loved them for a month then went into a car accident where I lost the keys. The racks were absolutely fine (they endured a car accident where the car was totaled) so I installed them to a new car. I realized the keys were lost and reached out to the company to see if they can send second pair of keys. Within 3 days I received my additional keys. They didn’t have to provide that yet they still did, lovely people really.

Needed a rack that would mount to Nissan Xterra OEM crossbars - you know, the ones that are unnecessarily wide. This one did! With the adjustable clamp set at it's widest setting. Another name-brand rack with flexible rubber straps that I had previously purchased and subsequently returned were not long enough. Install was easy, clamped tight and held skis secure. Some wind-noise at 70-75 mph as the design isn't as aerodynamic as others, but just a minor annoyance. I would recommend.

I like this product. I've been trying to find a cheaper but liable product to hold my fishing pools. This has been the answer to the problem I've had it can hold 7 rods easily and no damage to them, not only that it's high enough on the top of my van that the reel never hits the roof even on rough roads. I also like the fact it can lock them down snug so the will not slide around. One last thing it can be locked with a key so if I go in a store I don't have to worry on my rods being stolen,however the reels is another story but they are snagged tight on the reel so maybe no one will steal them.

Can’t beat this at the price point. Easy to install and does exactly what is intended. Easy to remove at the end of season as well. My gear was firmly locked in place , even at highway speeds. Minimal losses in mpg.

Top tier function and quality. Installed easily and served its purpose so I didn’t lose my snowboard. I’ve used other brands and those were returned because of subpar design, quality, and functionality.

First time I went to use the ski rack I loaded my skis the night before skiing. The rack was hard to close and nowhere near as smooth to use as my previous rack. The next morning I went out and the locks had completely frozen up (it was only 25 degrees Fahrenheit), not even letting me insert the key. I was able to jiggle one of the locks open but the second wouldn't open. I finally got the key in and then when I was trying to turn it (no tools involved) it turned 180 degrees and came out in my hand. I was able to re-shut the rack for the drive home but without the lock cylinder in the unit I was unable to get the racks open and eventually, after trying to reinstall the lock barrel and unscrewing the fitting, had to restore to using a hammer to open the rack to get my skis out. (I was going on a trip the next morning and couldn't leave my skis outside for 2 weeks). I had one of the previous iterations of this rack about a decade ago and loved it. This was a nightmare from day one. DO NOT BUY.

This is my second purchase of this ski rack. Loved the first one but my wife accidentally drove off without properly securing her skis and broke the previous rack. This rack works very well and is easy to install and remove.

Easy to install and use.They hold my snowboards very tightly.
