My son has been on bottles wince he was only 1 week old, after trouble breastfeeding. These wide neck nipples have been perfect for him and he has never had any issues with gas. I leveled him up to the 2 flow nipples when it was time, and he did well with them immediately. To clean them, I always take apart the bottles and rinse the nipples with soap and water before putting them into my bottle sanitizer. They have lasted and are very durable.
