High Protein, Low Carb, Starch Free
We have used this for almost 6 years, from the moment our kitten switched to adult food. This is NOT your mother’s kibble. It’s nearly impossible to find one with as much protein as this and with low carbs. We use tiki cat wet food in addition to this. Zero complaints. Tens across the board. My cat enjoys the taste. It doesn’t smell bad or feel oily. The kibble is small, not soft, and fits in our smart feeder with no issues. Her poops are solid (no diarrhea) and of average odor. It is a good value for the money because they eat a smaller portion due to the nutrient density. One bag lasts about 5 weeks for us.

Excellent product for dogs needing low carbs
My dog LOVES this kibble. I used to give him Wysong in another formula but he has yeast so it had too many carbs/starches. I recently discovered this Epigen90 has high protein & no starches. So glad I gave it a try. I think it's a very reputable company with excellent quality products. I like how they manufacture according to demand so the bags are always fresh & if you order a box, you have four smaller bags instead of one big one, so you don't have a bag open too long, making it easier to keep it fresh.

Great for mixed pet household (Cats & Dogs) - Quality Ingredients and Pets Love the Food
We've used Wysong for our pets in the past and never have been disappointed. The quality of ingredients is second to none - in addition to there being very few ingredients that are not "prey oriented." On top of that, the food is meant to be consumed by dogs and cats - this is especially great for households with both cats and dogs because dogs always want cat food and cats always want dog food. Our Lab/Hound mix always eats from the cat bowl acting like she got something special, while our 7-pound older kitten makes the other dog wait in line for her meal. To address the complaints regarding loose stool...this food is intense from a caloric standpoint. It is a very nutrient, protein-dense food. When switching from a standard diet that is less prey/meat-oriented, it is extremely important to switch slowly. Another thing to mention is that your pets' stool will NOT be super hard as this is not desired. You will have more of a soft-serve consistency with less waste. This is actually better for your pet. There are no true "binders" in this food, which is why your pets' waste isn't as closely bound. We have a Pit/Lab mix with a tender stomach and she took about 2 weeks to fully adjust to the food, even after mixing the recommended ratios. It's important to keep at it and don't waffle between diets with pets that have sensitive stomachs with this type of diet. We had a couple of accidents in the morning but after 6 weeks of being on the food, she is completely fine and her gut health is great. Note: I am not a vet but I play one on TV. :-)

Good Low Carb Food
I was using Dr. Elsey’s low carb cat food and decided to switch to this because it’s a little cheaper. The cats like it just as well and I like that it has no starch. I recommend.❤️❤️❤️

Do not underestimate how much high-quality protein is in this excellent kibble!
My raw fed dog gets this kibble in addition to his fresh raw meat and so he has a digestive system where the intestinal microbiome is already accustomed to very high levels of protein contained in his diet... thus he had no issues when this kibble was added to his food. However I will caution anyone who is attempting to switch over from any other commercial high-carb kibble diet to this Epigen 90. I remember how long it took to acclimate our dog's gut to fresh raw meat... it wasn't the fact that it was raw meat but the fact that the protein quality and the high levels contained in meat was so great that my dog's digestive tract took a long time to adjust to this. Like over 2 weeks of diarrhea attacks in the middle of the night, gurgling noises, farts, etc. Our carpet cleaner got a good workout everyday/night for 2 weeks solid AND THAT WAS JUST ADDING ONLY 25% of raw meat into to his usual commercial high-quality kibble (containing only 35% carbs). After he got through that first adjustment period of 2 weeks the rest of the change over went faster... within a month he was eating 75% fresh raw meat/organs/bone without issue and loving it. Today I continue to feed some (AAFCO approved) kibble (25%) as an insurance policy that my dog is getting everything he needs. I decided to replace the kibble he was getting with this Epigen 90 to reduce the carbs to near nothing and this replacement was done without issue. A number of friends/acquaintances that admire our dog's healthy look and feel have attempted to switch over their dogs to a fresh raw diet as well and all (every single one) have ran into the wall of diarrhea that goes on for weeks... a few have toughed it out but many others just couldn't tolerate the inevitable consequences of a diet change to such high-quality protein and give up after less than a week. Which brings me to my point... I noticed how many negative reviews this excellent food has gotten and at first was surprised however when I actually read those reviews it's obvious to me what the problem is... its the high level of protein (and lack of any starches) in Epigen 90 that accounts for the bouts of diarrhea that those reviewers are complaining about... these people greatly underestimated the immediate effects of the diet transition on their pet's digestive system and failed to go the distance. This is a great kibble and worth every penny if your pet can handle the levels of high-quality protein it contains... make no mistake the transitioning to this kibble for many pets is not going to be an easy one... but once the transition is complete you'll begin to appreciate what lots of high-quality protein can do for your pet's health.

Healthy, appropriate, affordable kitty crunchies
My cat started sniffing and scratching at the bags as soon as they came out of the box! (Then jumped on the box lol) My cat has never been picky and he does not have any underlying health issues, so I wasn’t really worried about the transition period. But based off of other reviewers I took 3 weeks to get him to 100% on this food. He LOVES IT and goes bananas over it! I feel so thankful to have discovered this food! It is so affordable for the high quality and amazing ingredients and protein/carb ratio!!!!!! Check out “cat food database” website for a good review of it! I ordered bags of the Epigen 90 and the regular Epigen. He’s eaten both for a couple weeks and he hasn’t noticed a difference and neither have we. Still up for debate which one we want him to stick with. My cat has had NO barfing, NO diarrhea, NO gas or extra stinky poops. So it is possible, don’t get scared by other reviewers! And now he’s starting to leave food in his bowl, both wet and dry. So the extra protein is filling him up correctly! Yay healthy kitty! Thank you Wysong!!!

Update after several years of use. Excellent quality kibble.
I have a large male tuxedo tom cat who was quite overweight. After using the regular epigen for a number of years, I switched over to 1/8C of the epigen 90 twice a day plus 1/5 can of wet EVO cat and kitten food in the large can and he has lost two pounds in the last 6 mos and is satisfied when he eats. He always tries for more, but stops pushing for food if I'm clear with him with this unlike the other foods that kept him very hungry and fat all the time. I think this is the only kibble I would use for a cat that's on the market, and am very pleased with it since he's on his way down. His coat looks good and he's satisfied and always likes the kibble. I was glad to read it was four bags with this order and not one big one and with prime, you can't beat the price and convenience! I would recommend this for dogs and cats. We have no problem with this formula and have always used the "90" in the blue bags. This size case lasts over a year at 1/4C / day. Update:2/2018. My cat still loves this cat food. He is now about to turn 10 and has been eating it consistently for several years. It works wonderfully in combination with Ziwi Peak canned cat food and I must say it's the only kibble that I would use on a cat or dog, period. No problems with the runs at all over time, I'm about to get another four pack and will see if the formula still holds. I don't know what I'd do if it were to disappear since there is nothing like it on the market at all. He really won't go for anything else, and I just wanted to do an update since the reviews are so negative and old.

Same problems everybody else is having!
Add another cat owner to the list of people that is disgusted with this new formulation. I had been feeding my cat Orijen and wanted another brand to mix in with it. I saw the great reviews for Wysong Epigen 90 and a recommendation for it on a natural cat food blog so I gave this a try. I mixed a little in slowly with his current food and he really seemed to like it. As I mixed more in though over a week or two I noticed his stools were not very solid. Eventually his stool was liquid and had an excessive amount of mucus. There was even a little blood in it. I took him to the vet and he was given Cerenia. I was told to give it 48 hours and see if it improved. It didn't improve. While waiting to hear from the vet I happened to look at the most recent reviews on Amazon. That's when I saw A. Cohn's review and it sounded just like the problems I was having with my cat. I stopped giving him the Epigen and probably within 48 hours his stools had improved dramatically. From everything I've seen it sounds like Wysong is continuing to defend this new formulation even after so many reports of the exact same problem from cat and ferret owners. Do they really think it's just a coincidence? I'm amazed at all these pet food companies that continually look for cheaper ingredients yet don't change the price of their food and put a lesser product out there that can harm our pets. Thankfully a review on here saved me another vet bill and who knows, maybe saved my cat.
