Excellent value for latex, but . . .
First Day: So far I am very pleased with my purchase. It arrived on time in 2 days (Prime) and it looks very well made. It has already expanded to its full height and it is exactly what the description says. We've tried it and it is very comfortable although the medium and firm sides were not labeled, and I'm not sure yet which side is which. To give you some context, my husband and I are replacing a 12-year old Dunlopillo latex mattress that is only 7" high. This mattress still has a few more years of use but we are retiring it to a guest room. We are big fans of latex, because of its feel, low motion, and its longevity. If you love memory foam, you won't like latex. Because of the higher cost of latex, I was seriously thinking of switching to memory foam. However, I went to a furniture store and tried all of their memory foam mattresses and discovered that I simply did not like that "sinking" feeling that you get with memory foam. What impressed me with Latex for Less mattress was that it had the requisite amount of latex layers and a cotton knit quilted cover with wool. Wool not only regulates temperature, but it also adds a little bit of cushioning. BTW, latex is different from other foams, you don't need to have such deep mattresses--we've slept on a 7" mattress for 12 years and we are not skinny people! Unlike other foams (like memory foam), you don't bottom out, hence edge support is not necessary and it's not necessary to buy a mattress over 10 inches unless you are very overweight. I will post later after we sleep on this mattress, but after just opening this up, I can tell that it will have a very similar feel to our old latex mattress. Before I purchased this mattress I tried to call the mattress company, but they still have not returned their phone calls. I did manage to chat once with them, but then they went offline for a few days. I purchased from Amazon, hoping that Amazon will stand by this product. This is why I think this review is so important, because while the mattress company may be sporadic with their customer service, this really does seem to be a really good mattress.Second day: Alright, after sleeping on this mattress I would have to say that the medium side is very firm and the firm side is extra, extra firm. The medium side seemed initially soft enough until I slept on my side for more than 10 minutes, then the bony part of my hips started to hurt. If I lay on my back, then my tail bone started to hurt. My husband complained of the same problem. I am debating now whether to return the mattress (a pity, since it seems very well made) or to purchase a topper to soften it.Third day: FYI, you really need to let this mattress sit (without sleeping on it) for 48 hours. I had only waited 24 hours and the mattress was too firm and hurt my hip. After 48 hours, it was a little bit more comfortable to sleep on.Fifth day: Still haven't been able to talk to anyone at Latex for Less or chat with anyone either. The mattress is still too firm for us. I find myself waking up to try to find a comfortable position. I am waking up with stiffness (never happened with our old latex mattress) and my husband has back spasms. We are probably going to have to try a topper with this, which is crazy to have to use a topper on a brand new mattress. While firmness is a personal preference, I do think that the mattress needs a thicker comfort layer (not just 2") for more pressure relief.1st week: Still have not been able to speak to anyone at Latex for Less--really poor customer service. Definitely a buyer-beware situation. It's a good thing (I think) that I purchased this from Amazon instead of the mattress company. Amazon only has a 30-day trial period and you have to package the mattress up before they will send UPS to pick it up. If I were able to talk to Latex for Less, I would have asked them if I could buy a softer mattress (somewhere in the answered questions they say that they can do that), and then return the one that I have which is too firm for me.Almost 2 weeks: The bed still isn't getting any softer and now my husband and I are getting back problems. I think that this bed is better for back and stomach sleepers. We did add a memory foam topper, but our stiffness and back problems are still continuing. I did test the memory foam topper on our old latex mattress, and you could definitely feel a higher comfort level on the old mattress. My theory is that the topper can help with pressure points but what it sits on can still change its feel.I finally got a phone call back from Latex for Less! The representative explained that the usual staff person was on leave and she was just filling in, but she was awesome. I made a decision to return the mattress to Amazon, and order the 6" Plushbeds Botanical Bliss latex mattress in medium--the lower price gives me some wiggle room to get a latex topper, and hopefully the medium will be a true medium. BTW, kudos to Amazon customer service, they were great!I am giving this 3 stars, because it is a very well-made mattress. I disagree with how they designed the latex layers; maybe 5" of firm dunlop and then 3" of talalay medium or soft would have improved the feel of this mattress. I'm sure there are people who like really firm mattresses, and for them, this would be a better fit.An additional note: while the cover initially seemed very nice, it is very easy to tear. With all the moving we did with this mattress, I discovered that the cover was actually a very thin cotton, like a thin T-shirt fabric. The quilting is deceptive and makes the cover seem better made than it really is. The fabric is so thin and the thread count low enough that I do not think that it provides sufficient protection from moths (who will love the wool underneath). I recommend purchasing a zippered mattress protector for this mattress if you purchase it. The 6" Plushbeds Botanical Bliss latex mattress in medium that we purchased to replace this mattress has a better cover and is much more comfortable.

Heavy and firm
We ordered two Twin-XL 9" latex mattresses to go with our new split king Glideaway Elevation adjustable bed. I wanted the latex because I wanted mattresses without fire retardant chemicals added. That is a plus with these mattresses. In addition, I did not want a thick mattress that would make the adjustable bed too high to comfortably sit on--9" was about right. --And, the price was excellent for a natural latex mattress. However I had never had a latex mattress before and maybe didn't fully appreciate the negatives, mostly covered by other reviewers. As other reviewers have noted, there is no label to tell you which is the softer side and which is the firmer side. To say that you can just flip the mattress over to see which side you like the best is ludicrous. These mattresses, even the 9" twin XL, are HEAVY, so not easy to turn over. And there are no handles to help you. I cannot imagine turning a queen size mattress! I called the company and understand that they do intend to add a label in the future. We assumed (right or wrong) that the inside as you unrolled the mattress was the softer side. BUT, both sides seemed very firm. I am a side sleeper and a couple of nights on this mattress was very painful. Then I discovered that my husband's mattress was slightly softer. He didn't seem to mind the firmer mattress, so we switched. Still not good enough, but I didn't want to add a topper as I didn't want the bed to be too high. --And returning the mattresses seemed daunting. Finally, I added a down alternative mattress pad and that helped considerably. As of now (after a month) the mattress is not great, but comfortable enough. The fact that the mattresses were not identical makes me wonder about the quality control. Also they are not even quite the same size; one is about an inch longer then the other, but that is not a problem.Because the mattresses are so heavy, and with a split king bed you cannot really get around each mattress, changing sheets, etc. is difficult. We really do like our Glideaway adjustable bed and especially like its elevation feature. In hindsight, however, we might have preferred to forgo the split feature and opted for a queen size Glideaway adjustable bed which would allow you to get around the mattress to make it, and perhaps have forsaken the latex for a lighter mattress.

DON'T BUY THIS ONE!!!!!!
I really don't like this mattress. I've been sleeping on it 2 months. It makes me ache all over. I can't get a full nights sleep because I wake up in pain. It seems too hard to me. I'm sleeping on the side that seems to be the softest but it's hard to tell the difference. I would not recommend it.I can't return it because I went past the 30 day trial. I thought it was just a matter of getting g used to it but my pain is getting worse

SMELLS LIKE A BARN
If it weren't for the smell that just won't go away and being too soft for my back, this totally deserves five stars. The medium side was too soft for me and so it hurts my back but if you like a soft mattress this would be amazing. Mine smells like a barn full of wet sheep even after running an ozone generator for 2 days and for setting out in the sun for a day. I like the quality though and if I return this I'll look for another natural mattress or, more likely, make my own.About the smell, they say it's more likely to be a problem in a humid environment. I do live in a humid environment but my home is climate controlled and stays very dry and this arrived fully vacuum sealed in a bag so I'm not sure why mine smells so so badly. It's so strong my pajamas reek of a barn after sleeping on this mattress.UPDATE: Found a solution to the smell. A wool mattress pad. I purchased a thick wool blanket and lanolized it and ever since that's been on the bed below the sheets you can't smell a thing. Doesn't make sense but I'm glad it solved the sheep smell issue anyway!
