The shelf life says 25 years but ours don’t last a year. We supplement our grocery food every month. This can usually last the two of us a couple of months. We keep ours in a 1/2 gallon mason jar and vacuum seal it until we are ready to use it. It is so quick and easy to pour out a cup in a pan and add water, simmer until ready. The taste and texture of this is just like frozen peas. We can have them crunchy or soft depending on what we are cooking. We dont have to worry about buying them every month. We can use that money on corn, mushrooms or peppers. We buy it all the time.

These taste great and the can is huge (although 3/4 full). However they do take some time to return to pea-like eatability. I'd hoped to just toss some in with fried rice in the morning, but they take a bit longer to moisten up. So just start the peas first. Great for stews, etc. I've wasted SO many bags of frozen peas to freezer burn since I only use them for cooking (not for peas-only in a bowl as a side-dish). These work great!

Not as full as I would've liked but definitely a favorite for my birds.

Whatever, buy what you can while you can. Prices going up and up, availability will go down. Buy extra every time when at store. If you are at a spot where buying emergency marketed foods are within your budget, then by all means do so. Tuck it away. Todays cost will be more than paid for come tomorrow, ya know? Go for what you like to eat, go for variety. If you are deciding between vegetables, peas are nice way to go because they offer more nutrients (esp protein) over some options (such as corn). I pretty much only grab emergency food when it is on sale. I often just tuck it away and forget it. But I will occasionally buy it and use it if it happens to be cheaper than a non emergency packed food that I use regularly. I like Augason Farms quality and for the most part pricing. They have quite an assortment. I typicalluy buy the #10 cans (number ten) for stack ability, uniformity, readability, and ease of getting into (just a regular can opener). They float, they are durable, and I am not worried about dents (not same as a wet food product).

I love these peas. They cook up (rehydrate) really well in both soup or just hot tap water for salads. I won't be without these.

Love this stuff. So much easier to store and use than all the smaller cans. In my opinion they even taste beter than canned, almost fresh.
