What are the dimensions of the shelf underneath?

Never got mine. Amazon delivered it to the wrong place and then when I asked them to send to the correct address they cancelled my order. Would never order anything from Amazon again.

Is it too small to use for 9 and 11 yr old boys?

IMO Yes. It's perfect for my 4 year old daughter however. 7-8 is probably the cutoff for age. Time to get the boys a real rolling toolbox ; )

Is work bench assembled? Or must it be assembled? If it is not assembled, can I pay to have it assembled when making purchase?

Not assembled. I do not know about the paying to have someone assemble it question.
