Very pleased with my purchase! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Projects of which they can be proud and a fun way to learn valuable and lasting skills. *by T***1 on Reviewed in the United States on April 25, 2018* This is an interesting craft project that presents many options. There is an error on the Amazon page that suggests the age to be 8 to 12 months instead of 8 to 12 years. For once, I agree with the 8-12 years interest range. An 8 year old will need a little bit of help and supervision, a 12 year old can probably handle everything on her own and those in between the two ends will need varying degrees of help.I very much like that, in a creative and fun environment, some useful skills are introduced. Probably, not many 12 year olds have as much as threaded a needle, let alone sewn a straight line, applied a sequin (or button), or tried a decorative stitch. This could be the start of a lifetime of happy crafting combined with practical mastery of basic skills.There is a book built onto the box that shows possible projects using only the materials provided. If you want to get creative or change anything, you might need to pull something out of your craft drawers but, basically, everything that is needed to complete the project is provided. (There are some suggested “optional” items such as black thread, double-stick tape and other ordinary household items).The book opens up many additional possibilities: if you make the strawberry you already know how you could go on to make an apple, heart, Christmas or other holiday decorations, and countless other projects. It’s just a matter of imagination and basic materials once you learn the basic skills.I worked on this project with my 9 year old niece and my 5 year old granddaughter (a veteran of many more projects than her age would indicate.) The 5 year old worked on the projects involving the chenille yarn (and glue). These were the easiest and also least attractive. The 9 year old (with help) mastered the straight stitch, attached sequins, and did not get frustrated or impatient (as she usually does). We did use fabric glue in some places in which sewing was recommended. We did not apply to clothing. We applied to notebooks and colored gift boxes to avoid using the felt on items that need to be washed or laundered (such as mugs or lunch boxes).Among the items provided are sticker backers. These are fine for temporary adhesion (which is probably what you want). If you want something more permanent, you either have to sew it on or use commercial fabric or craft glue.I also suggest that you and the child decide on one project, put only the items needed for that one project on a baking sheet or tray, and limit the work area to that. Otherwise, they want to do everything at once and become distracted and lose their focus. The kids in my family (or maybe it’s this whole generation) seem to have an attention-span/concentration problem. Creating boundaries (by using a tray) and limits (by only having the necessary components on hand) make for a more focused and successful project.But, on the whole, this is a very well thought-out kit. It’s entertaining and practical and give the children a well-earned feeling of accomplishment and pride in their work. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Fun and easy for early/new sewers. The bright colors and kid centric designs really appealed to her, and she enjoyed creating something that she could stick on plain hats, sneakers, etc. She’s just starting out sewing, so a project that involves an easy material like felt, as well has large needles and heavy embroidery floss was a good match for her. It let her practice her skills on a project where the quality of stitching isn’t critical to the structural integrity of the end product. And the final patches attach with adhesive film, instead of being sewn on, so the kids don’t have to have excellent sewing skills – and they’re also not limited to fabric basis for their patches – they can stick on anything that a sticker can.Kids who like rules can make the patches exactly as shown; or kids who like to good off a bit more can come up with their own designs with the same as pieces.
