The material, combined with the new mesh tongue, further aids shoe breathability and comfort whilst an on-the-shoe gaiter hook offers a more secure attachment system, allowing you to attach an all-terrain gaiter to the shoe. The upper construction is covered with a DWR (durable water repellent) treatment, this is water resistant and breathable layer that provides partial weather protection from rainy days but does not fully diminish the effect if the weather gets more intense. Additionally, a rand wraps around the shoe's upper ensures outstanding protection against stones and other debris, reducing wear and tear and giving an extension of life to the shoe. I have used them a couple of times in very wet and muddy conditions and the grip provided is indeed excellent. I have previously owned a pair of Inov8 Rocklite and they gave excellent traction. Unfortunately when the model updated the fit seemed to change so I changed brands. However the grip offered by other shoes wasn't nearly as good. With this Autumn being so wet, I was slipping and sliding all over the place. I therefore decided to give Inov8 another go. I and really pleased I did. In terms of the grip offered, they are so much better than my other trail shoes. The mud doesn't seem to stick to the soles as much as other shoes I've used. The added bonus with Inov8 is they offer half sizes. This particular model seems pretty wide in the toe box area and seem to suit my wide feet. I hope that they last like my previous Inov8 shoes. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Not as wide as X Claw275 *by N***O on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 16 October 2019* Having previously used iNov8 X Claw 275's which suited my wide feet I was a little disappointed that these shoes, which were a '4' on the iNov8 fit scale, are actually narrower. Reviews said they used the same sole plate but putting the two together shows about a 5mm difference. The grip is slightly better on wet rock but I suspect the rand will wear out over my little toes in due course. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Grippy and comfy *by M***R on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 3 January 2020* A very nice version, feeling light on your feet and with good traction in the mud.
