The material is a rough linen style of 100% cotton and is on the thicker side of what's standard in a shirt. The shirt is excellent quality and very well made. When I got this I tried it on but it was a tad tight, which meant that after shrinkage (which always happens to cotton clothing) it would be too tight for me. The XL shirt is labelled 44/190, which means it's closer to a large than to an extra large. Thus I have to send it back. They make an XXL so I'm reordering that.
