A Good Swift, kick in the - go-do-the-work now kind of read
Really enjoyed reading this book as it's true to its title but also a firm, swift, kick in the - go-do-the-work now kind of way. It's got humor and practicality. Literally read it in less than an hour mostly be cause I like to read, reread and highlight. I recommend it especially for young adults, teens, and adults because we are all, in some way, shape, form, or fashion creative, and it's time to give ourselves full permission to do the creative work we're designed to do.

Love The Good Creative
Love The Good Creative. As others have said, it's a quick read, straight-forward. Although there's nothing here I didn't already know, Paul does a great job of packaging inspiration and insight and, after reading the whole thing in one sitting, I've found a chapter each morning as a great addition to starting my day. Good for focus and getting the mind in the right place.I bought The Good Creative in early June, just after it was released. I have it as a Kindle book and also ordered the hard copy, just to get familiar with Create Space. Paul was so kind to email a link to the audio version as well.I highly recommend if you need a creative jumpstart or just a bit of creative nourishment.

Short, sweet, and right on the money
I downloaded the Kindle version of this book for my teenage daughter, who's very artistic but doesn't have a lot of confidence in her work. I read it myself first, and instantly became a fan of Paul Jarvis. His writing in so down-to-earth that reading his book is like sitting down and talking to a friend. His tips seem so right, so reasonable, so OBVIOUS that you have to wonder why no one wrote them down before. In real life, I'm an engineer. I also have an artistic side, leaning towards Steampunk-inspired gadgetry. I've done work for various Steampunk artists before, mostly enabling technologies that add some pizzazz to their work, but never felt that my own work was worth putting out there. This book has made me re-think that notion. And hey, I might be wrong, but I'm all jazzed up and I'm going to go for it anyway. And in the meantime, I'm going to download some of his other books....

Brilliant, essential must read
5 stars. Easily. This author jam packs brilliance into a small space that is easily understood, easily assimilated and fun to read through. Wisdom is felt, it only truly comes from life experience and this book is wise through and through. Rather than another book telling all to follow one way Paul Jarvis has a gift for helping me to maintain my voice, maintain MY authenticity and use practical proven steps that share the work. Easy peasy.

Simple, honest advice
Good advice for anyone looking to make their craft more than a hobby. Simple, straightforward, and honest. The author speaks from experience, and challenges creatives of all kinds to take an honest look at themselves and their work and to take concrete steps to realize their dreams. This is a book I will refer to again when I am not sure where to go next with a project.

AWESOME!
If you haven't read any of Paul Jarvis' other books, you definitely should. The Good Creative is a quick read, but mostly because Paul's writing is so conversational. I love all the illustrations throughout the book as they help anchor topics, but also add some visual interest to his words.Highly recommend this book and subscribing to Paul's weekly dispatches on his website!

very inspiring!
It's a quick read but it's very inspirational for creative people who want to be successful and get better. Great advice, good examples to back it up. Might read this book again next time I feel like I'm in a rut with my work.

Inspirational, as usual
I follow Paul Jarvis on twitter and I'm a member of his weekly newsletter. The honesty in his writing and the powerful way he points out simple truths about creativity are what makes him special. This one is a quick read and reminds you some basic but inspirational ways with examples of real life creatives from various branches of art.

book you may come back to once every now and then
To be perfectly honest, there is nothing in this book I did not know about before, however it is good to be reminded about this stuff as it's hardly at the forefront of your mind. Author's writing style makes it a fast and easy read.

Inspiring!
"Creativity is the act of making something from nothing. It requires making public those bets first placed by imagination." The author Paul Jarvis inspires and explains what it takes to be creative and how you can be successful in pursuing a creative life.

Fácil de leer, divertido y reflexivo.
Muy divertido. El estilo de Paul me parece muy limpio y a pesar de su ligereza permite e flexiones profundas sobre los propios hábitos creativos.
