perfect fit, exactly what I needed
Got this for my truck and it fits perfectly, feels exactly like the factory part should with no wobble or weirdness. OEM GM parts are usually a safe bet and this one is no different, solid construction and it seals up nicely. Ships quickly and comes well packaged so it shows up in good shape without any damage. If your current cap is giving you trouble just grab the ACDelco replacement and call it a day.

I found the same cap at a lot of car parts web sites, but this had the best price, and with Prime, fast shipping at no extra charges. My 81 Trans Am had been giving me a lot of check engine lights, and in retrospect, probably because of overheating, even though with the previous cap, the water temp gauge never went over 220. After I installed this cap, and a few cycles between hot and cold, the check engine light doesn't come on anymore, so the engine isn't overheating. (It never overheated enough to blow steam, though). My T/A came from the factory without A/C, so it has the non-A/C radiator. I added a Vintage Air A/C system. With it off, the water temp stays at 220, but with the new cap, and the AC on, the temp goes up really high, but I don't get check engine lights. I think the old cap wasn't holding pressure, and the water in the block was turning to steam, which doesn't transfer heat very well. The new cap holds pressure, the water doesn't turn to steam, so the water carries more heat, and the temp gauge reads higher. I have a now unavailable flex radiator fan, and when the A/C is off, the water temp cools down quickly. I have a polished aluminum Cold Case radiator which will replace the OEM radiator. That should be the last piece of the overheating puzzle.
