Got this sim card for my phone and my wife's phone. Simply follow the instructions as they are posted and everything should work just fine. You won't be able to call US/Canada numbers by direct dialing from your UK3 phone number (the one that is assigned to this sim card) unless you add more money to your account, but then these sim cards aren't meant for that. For less than a $1/day I had uninterrupted 4G data in 4 different European countries.For my phone, I changed out my PagePlus sim card for this UK3 sim card the day we were traveling from NC to Oslo. Restarted the phone and within 5 minutes had text confirmations from UK3 that the phone was good to go. Turned off my WiFi and I was able to browse the internet, pull email, and place WhatsApp calls using the Roaming Data in the US. Now the fun part. Our flight never made it out due to weather. Had to redo our flights, go home, and fly out the next day. During the extra 26 hours that we were in the US my phone always had data connectivity. I was able to consume data and use all the apps that required them without issue. The nice thing is that I was able to place calls using my VOIP home phone through my mobile phone using the data connection both while in the US (thanks to UK3's roaming agreement with AT&T & T-Mobile) and in Europe.Once we landed in Oslo, I switched off airplane mode and within 5 minutes had a text message from UK3 saying that Norway was in their roaming network and everything worked! I could place and receive phone calls & texts (to/from European numbers) & use 4G data! However, things only worked for a few hours. Eventually the data stopped working and the troubleshooting began. You can try restarting your phone, but that didn’t consistently solve the problem for me. What did work was to place a call to the UK3 automated account line (333 I believe). As soon as the call went through, magically the data started to work again. This issue repeated in each of the 4 countries we visited, but at different lengths of time from the original “Hello” text message. Sometimes it happened in an hour, sometimes after 4 or 5. But each time I made the call, the phone started working just fine (come to think of it, I have to do that sometimes with PagePlus after my account automatically renews – but not always as was the case with the UK3 card).I kept track of how much data both my wife and I used and neither of us went over 4 GB for the entire 4 weeks. We used Wifi when we could, but for the first 1.5 weeks in Norway we only had mobile data. We did a bunch of WhatsApp videos, pictures, calls and lots of internet (though not NetFlix) as well as constant Google Maps GPS navigation and still used less than 1GB per week so the 12GB was a bit of overkill but well worth the peace of mind.Connectivity was great in all the places we visited including way out in the country well above the arctic circle in Norway. In fact data coverage was much better and more consistent than where I live in the country in NC!

Unfortunately I was probably sucked in by the price. Which is good. Nothing else about using this sim for EU really worked all that well, although I'm sure if we're in the UK only it might have been better.We're enjoying a long stay in France. More than a month. Once you activate the sim, you are directed to download their app for future "top ups".You cannot top up thru the app without a non US zip code (postal code). So they give you an outside provider to get around that. Seemed like an acceptable solution, although it was 50% more for the same data plan. Until you try to pay with a credit card, which require a confirmation code. Texted to our US phone, which.... Don't work here.Maybe it's not fair to lay THAT detail on "Three", but it's still an added complication.A few other fun facts....You cannot phone home (if you're in the US).You cannot text home (again US).Nor can you receive texts, although probably you can receive phone calls.If you ask some one in the EU (except the UK) to call or text you, it costs THEM money.I will admit to some bad assumptions on my part, but I think their marketing is wildly misleading.Do NOT buy this sim card unless you're traveling less than a month, have no friends to talk to anyway, or have a UK address and credit card. It has been a waste of money given the amount time spent to learn what you are not clearly told at the outset, and the inability to "top up" our plan.OH, the hotspot worked great so we could iMessage from wife's phone.... At least until our prepaid month was up and we could not "top up".

I purchased two of these cards for my wife and I to use during two weeks in Italy. The data plan begins once the cards are activated. I activated them at home in the USA a couple of days before I left simply to make sure they worked. They will give you a UK phone number with a country code of +44. Activation in our unlocked iPhones was very easy. I simply removed our AT&T SIM card and inserted the new card. The carrier in Europe was "WIND." We had 12G of data each and did not come close to using all of it over the course of two weeks. Just remember to give your new UK phone number to those people who really need to reach you if needed.PROS: Activation was easy. I did not need to register the SIM with the new carrier.Worked very well in Venice, Florence, Tuscany, and Rome (4G all of the time). Coverage was spotty in Positano (Amalfi Coast; 3G or Extended most of the time).PRO TIP - The card is a UK phone number with a +44 country code. Italy is a +39 country code. Any number you text/dial in Italy (restaurant, tour company etc) must be done with the country code first.PRO TIP - The USA is a +1 country code. Any phone number you text/dial in the USA must have the +1 first. For years, I have not entered contacts into my phone with the +1 first. If I sent a friend a text back in the States, I had to remember to go into my contacts first and add the +1 in front of their number prior to sending the text. If you get a send text failure, check this first.CONS: You cannot stream with this card. I was on vacation so I was not trying to stream Netflix. However, if that is something you are going to do, you can't do it with this card. In addition, it can't be used as a hotspot. I was not trying to do either of these so it wasn't a real problem. The only real con that I had was that in Positano, Amalfi Coast, Italy, the coverage was 3G or worse. A few times it switched from WIND 3G to Extended (Roaming). When it does this, texting became a problem. Google Maps (for walking directions) still worked but it was slowed down when it switched to Extended.Random Tip - I purchased unlocked (not tied to a specific carrier) iPhones direct from Apple. This made this card very easy to use. Basically change the SIM card and it worked great. I THINK you can request your carrier to unlock your phone temporarily but I'm not 100% sure. It would be worth finding out. Knowing what I know now, I will never intentionally purchase a locked phone again.Another random tip - In the USA, I find the WAZE app works better than any other navigation app. I like WAZE much better than Google maps. However, we did a TON of walking in Italy. Google maps with walking directions worked very well with this card (even in Positano). However, Google Maps did screw me over one day while driving. I opened my WAZE App to hopefully get me to where I was actually going and it worked like a charm. Thanks WAZE.I hope you found this review helpful.
