I use a heaped thumbnail size amount, sometimes 2) to coat my beard properly, and fully - i am quite heavy handed and do sometimes use too much - which is what can make it expensive.So buying the ingredients, and making my own is a far more cost effective way of keeping my beard soft, conditioned and under control. The essential oils all play their own part in providing nutrients to my skin and beard, and can help against itchy, flaky beards. And depending what ingredients go in, the balms can be used at night or day, and each have their own benefits - from conditioning to growth, to strength.The scents smell nice to begin with, but they don't last all day. Id say they last a good couple hours - but then again, my nose gets used to it, and i often cant smell it half hour after i put it on...*please note* - If you are going to make your own balms, seek professional advice first, and research all the products you use. Not all essential oils are good for the skin & hair, and you can have an allergic reaction. And what works on my skin and hair may not work on yours.. So please don't just copy what i have.
