Im covering plain pine shelves. Will I need to cut thin pieces for fronts of shelf boards or could it wrap and look ok?

I used this to cover windows, but the material is such that I think it would wrap around the front of your shelf with no problems. Its very sticky and maneuverable. I agree with a previous answer... if you start at the front of your shelves and work back, it should look fine and stick well.

Can this be used for kitchen countertops ?

Is this smooth or does it have a grain texture?

The surface of the film is smooth, no texture

Can this be painted with regular latex paint?

It is not recommended, however, if you are going to give it a try I would suggest testing the paint on a small patch before hand.
