However, I've noticed that the blades tend to stain easily, even with prompt washing. This is a bit disappointing aesthetically, but doesn't affect their performance. The variety of knives included is comprehensive, covering most kitchen needs. Despite the staining issue, the sharpness and overall quality make this set a solid choice for those seeking a budget-friendly but functional knife collection.

Wow, my husband and I absolutely love this knife set! We are both retired, both cook often, and was looking for a good knife set with good gripping handles, self-sharpening, and had good-sized steak knives. And boy, did we find it with this product! We have only had this set a week, but so far, we love it! (I will update my review, if anything changes.) We have been hand-washing them and then drying with a cloth and leaving them on our drying mat overnight to air dry thoroughly, before placing them back in the knife block. We purchased the 14-piece set and it fits very nicely on our counter, without taking up much room. I really wanted the 20-piece set so that we would have 8 steak knives, instead of just the 6. However, after reading the reviews of how big the block was on the larger set, and me not being able to find the dimensions of the block anywhere, I opted for the smaller 14-piece set. All the knives state they were made in India, and the shears and black wood block was made in China. This is truly a beautiful set. We have been delighted at how sharp these knives are and highly recommend this set! (Just a side note, the box states there is a “prep knife,” but on the wood block it states it as a “utility” knife.)

Knives were nice and sharp out of the box and have stayed sharp though the time I've been using them. Although not long, they look great and feel great in my hand. They also clean very easily, keeping the blades nice and tidy!

Very nice set! Sturdy and durable. I will not have to buy another set with the built in sharpeners. Would definately buy one of these sets again for a gift.

Just received this set after a couple of years of shopping around for a new knife set. The knives are very sharp and have a nice weight to them. The grip is smooth and the notch at the end of the knives keep them from slipping when wet. I cannot comment on how the self-sharpener works yet. It would be nice to have the knives labeled on the knife sleeves when they arrive as the block is very specific to which slot is used for each knife, but it is not clear which knives go in which slot. For example, the paring knives and carver were a bit confusing. The block is HUGE so if you don't have a deep counter space you may not care for this set.

These are great knives. I have been wanting a full set for a long time and finally decided to go for it. The base sits well on the counter. It is stable and doesn’t move around at all. I am very pleased with the quality and balance of these knives and they have and keep a nice edge. I wash them in the dishwasher in the 3rd rack where they don’t get up next to other things and I’ve been pleased about how they wash up. I am especially happy with the serrated utility knife. I can cut veggies and fruits including soft ones like tomatoes as thin as a mandoline would. As someone who eats a ton of fruits and veggies this is so very useful. I can see these lasting for a very long time. I highly recommend this set to anyone looking for a moderately priced and high quality set.

I purchased this because I find the Henckels brand to be outstanding and the biggest selling point for me was the self-sharpening feature. While there are a lot of other brands out there to choose from, I always prefer this brand and always find them to be superior. I wanted to upgrade my knives and had a really tough time deciding on whether to go with the 20 piece or the smaller set. I ultimately decided on the 20 piece since I do a lot of cutting when I start canning and a really good set of knives is a must. Decided not to go by price but by what I would need. I am so glad I did, they came the next day and I cut up chicken and beef to put in the freezer and it was a breeze. They are so sharp it has been like cutting meat with a butter knife! Will definitely have to be extra careful!The block is huge compared to my old set and I had to move things around on the counter to accommodate it. The knives and the block have a sleek appearance and the knives are easy to hold and cut with. Would definitely recommend purchasing!I did warn my husband that he is NOT allowed to use the new knives for anything other than food related preparation! Contrary to his belief, they are NOT tools! lol
