Dr. Harvey's Paradigm Green Superfood Base Mix for Dogs (6 lb)

After our 8 yr old little guys anal gland cancer diagnosis (AGASACA) June of '22, first we prayed then we started researching all of our options to give him the best outcome. He had a successful surgery to remove the tumor in June and we discovered Paradigm food in August/September. He went for his 3 month Follow up and is in doggy remission! (*please check your pet for lumps or bumps near their anal glands! A hard lump found early can save them! It is easy to feel if they have one and if you're not sure, ask your vet to check during their annual exam....most vets don't normally but if you ask they will and it's free!) We give all the glory to God from the way we found his mass (accidentally), to his good health and happiness all throughout vet visits and surgery, I truly believe God does what we can't and guides us to do the things we can. One of the things I researched was diet for our boy. Cancer feeds on carbs and sugars! This food has so few carbs and that aids in starving the cancer cells. So many homemade recipes just don't have the nutrients dogs need (all sorts of vitamins, calcium, protein, etc)...while it's possible to buy these and add them into their food, it then becomes a balancing act of not over adding supplements or not giving enough, and it changes with each recipe! This food is not cheap, but the supplement balancing act has been done for you, ingredients are healthy, and the prep time is a breeze. I make a couple servings at a time and serve one fresh at night and refrigerate the other for the next days breakfast. I went on vacation for a week and meal prepped for his sitter....froze them and all she had to do was defrost or warm up and add oil! Easy! It's also easy to bring the bag along should we take him on vacation with us ... He is 25 lbs and a bag lasts about a month. I use fish oil from Amazon, it takes one pump per serving. For protein, I use all different kinds and treat him to good cuts of beef, liver, fish, ground turkey, chicken, eggs(2 eggs per serving for his weight), lean stew meat, ...a couple of money saving protein options I've found are chicken livers, chicken gizzards (these are tough so boil them then put them in a food processor or chop finely), ground chicken (less expensive than ground turkey), eggs, calf liver....just google the amount your dog can have of certain meats (for example too much liver is not good, you have to spread it out!). Check your grocery store, there are lots to choose from! *If you email the company, they will send you a free sample that lasts for a few meals - I did that and had it within a few days! He loved it so I ordered a bag on prime. I truly feel our buddy will have a long time with us and changing to this healthier diet will only add to his health and keep him in remission. Overall, factoring in the price and headache of supplements that would need to go into making homemade from scratch, this food is fairly priced in comparison. When you love them like we do, you make it work and cooking for him hasn't been an inconvenience at all, I actually think it's fun! He used to pass on breakfast when he was on kibble...now he gets up in the morning ready to eat!!

Our hearts sank when we found out our beloved 8 year old golden retriever has cancer. A small tumor was spotted by our vet and removed during a minor procedure and it came back as Hemangiosarcoma, cancer of the blood. We were given 2 options... 1) Have an ultrasound and see if it has spread and do nothing or 2) give her chemotherapy. We're not one to want chemotherapy for ourselves so I am not wanting to give this poison to our girl either. Luckily the results showed that it did not spread but there could be other tumors not seen in the scans. Being on Keto diet ourselves we know the benefit of the diet and how cancer prevention if not elimination is a major benefit of eating this way, so why not put our girl on it. Easier said than done... there are some great foods out there for dogs but many if not most still have fruit or some sort of carbohydrate to bind it together. Yes, there is a raw diet but that is expensive, time consuming and not really that user friendly. Introducing Dr. Harvey's paradigm... what an amazing product! Completely keto with added ingredients such as turmeric which is great for inflammation. Simply add a fat of some sort, we use fish oil and coconut oil and a protein, we use frozen raw pieces from Northwest Naturals and move out of the way because your dog will knock you down to get to this food. I have never seen my dog get so excited and whine for a food than when i prepare this. The 8 minutes for it to re-hydrate feel like eternity for her, she will lick her bowl completely clean then go back a few minutes later to lick it some more in hopes that some more magically appeared. Her attitude is completely different, she has much more energy than she has in years. We could tell her back hips have been bothering her for a while, very slow and labored when getting up, seemed like arthritis. Now she jumps up, not slow at all, ready to play and run at any moment now. Mind you, this is after 2 weeks of using this food she is acting like this. Her next scan is coming up next month to see if her cancer has spread at all. If her attitude and energy is an indication of that, I would say no, were going to kill this horrible disease with the help of this amazing food and no poisonous drugs that the oncologist says is your only option. Thank you for making this Dr. Harvey, I believe you have extended my dogs life and made her feel like a puppy again, thank you from the bottom of my heart. *Follow up 9 months later* It’s been 9 months since this horrible diagnosis and I am happy to say she is still cancer free and still goes crazy when we make this food for her. She whines impatiently to get her food and still is playful with a lot of energy, you could never tell she was diagnosed with cancer, we believe this food along with the raw meat and vegetables that we give her every day has saved her life!

I can not find anything wrong with this food! The smell is so unbelievable! I dog sit for 5 dogs at one time, pour hot water on mix and all 5 dogs are at my feet! The health of my Westie was keeping us up at night. The sounds in his stomach were so loud and so horrible and getting worse! His poop was at times just as horrible. I would take pics and samples so 3 different vets and lots of lab work lots of money, my last westie was almost as bad. I feed only the finest foods and yet I had to keep pepto at hand. No one had an answer just a pill that never really helped. Took him over to the holistic vet, pics and samples told her the sounds were not only keeping us up, my baby was confused! He did not get junk food or crappy treats. Researched his food and even recommended his food to my clients. Paid alot of money! I was cooking Turkey for my pup, chicken always made the dogs itch and red meat was to fatty. The vet said as long as I was making Turkey for him try his. She handed me a bag of Dr. Harvey's food. I can not stress this enough my dogs life changed that night!!!!!!!! No sound, none! In the morning his poop was perfectly formed!!!! His engery was back over the days. His coat was healthy. His eyes were bright. Oh one other thing, all the vets said he was over weight, he was 22 lbs they wanted him at 20. The holistic vet said read the kibble pack closer, they make kibble with tapioca! When I tell you his kibble was one of the top brands, I was shocked and sad. So when I say there is nothing bad with this product I mean it with all my heart. I have my baby back. You can make it in advance I have to that the dogs are at my feet until its done. ***looks like alot of food when mixed. Had to work with it, but worth it. I play with the amounts and I change up the proteins that I put in it. Dont get nervous if first time doing food like this. I was so afraid I was doing it wrong, watched video, cut the amount and feeding has become a happy healthy time!

I have an elderly Golden Retriever who loves this particular food. Hopefully it will keep her healthy for the remainder of her days.

Love the product and it's ingredients, great to have the option of a food base mix that is lower in starches that I can add my choice of protein to. I know of many that use this product for their dogs with cancer and for dogs that have renal disease and are having great results with it. I love the smell and so do my dogs, you can actually smell the freshness and see the whole food nutrients as it rehydrates. The ONLY reason I gave a 4 star rating on the $ is because it is fairly expensive for a base mix and for that kind of price I would actually expect the ingredients to be totally organic. I do make home-made foods myself and have been doing this for many years for my dogs and do know that to go totally organic can be a bit more expensive, although it isn't as much as people would have you to believe. And I do wish there was some way to make it so it wasn't quite so dusty, I have asthma and every time I open the bag, even when I'm being careful my asthma acts up so my husband usually deals with moving it to a stainless steel storage container for me and he always complains about the dust factor............BUT I understand if there isn't anything that can be done about it and it would not stop me from using the product. I also have the Raw Vibrance and love it for all there reasons stated above but the extra bonus is that it relies totally on whole foods for it's nutrition, there are no added vitamin and mineral supplements needed. Great products but please consider an organic form in the future for those of us that are THAT picky. :)

We’ve been buying Dr Harvey’s for a few years now and we’ve been happy with their food. I rotate this with Dr Harvey’s Grain free beef and garden veggies. My dog love them both. After many, many years of my dog getting what we call the “gulpies”, I’m happy to say that her episodes of gastro upset she had been having has almost disappeared. So if you’re feeding your dog kibble, and your dog gets reflux, stomach issues, etc, I’d recommend giving this a try. Kibble is heavily processed and this food is more nutritious and it’s nice not having so many vet bills. I’m rating this 4, not 5 stars, because this is very “dusty”. After you scoop, and go to close the bag, stand clear because it’s so thin and fine, it looks like it kicks up a layer. I hope the manufacturer considers making the food less thin, maybe more chunks, like the beef and veggies is. This is easy once you get used to it. You mix it with water, let sit for 10 minutes to rehydrate, and you can add your own protein and oil. We use coconut oil, and lean ground beef. This lets you control which protein you’re feeding. My dog is doing well on this food. We’ve also started only giving fresh fruits and veggies as treats (verses store bought crunchy ones ) and this helps keep her from having stomach upset and issues. Another thing I’d like to see is larger bags to make it more cost friendly, which would be helpful for those with larger dogs or multi dog households.

This has everything and my dogs love it. No fake proteins that are really starches. Excellent quality control.

From start to finish, it took about 20 minutes to prepare. I’ve made two batches so far—one with ground pork and one with ground turkey—and both turned out great. My dogs absolutely loved it! They licked their bowls clean and then went around inspecting each other’s dishes to see if there was anything left behind. That alone told me how much they enjoyed the taste. Even better, neither dog experienced any stomach upset or digestive issues after eating it. I really appreciate that I can choose the protein source and know exactly what is going into their meals. My dog Loves this! I add cooked Chicken, salmon , eggs or beef and some herring oil and she eats it right up ! Her coat is silky and soft as well! Highly recommend ! Only things was hard to find a scoop in the bag at the beginning
