Since they fit snugly, which I figured is OK for a water shoe, the whole top of my foot was in contact with the top of the shoe and the mesh material was MUCH more rigid than I'd expected, and VERY scratchy! Maybe they get softer as they get worn in? Maybe when they're wet? I don't know, but I'm not going to find out because, ow.
