Does it really last 8 hours? I live in the tropics with serious sun

I am a scuba diver and have spent a lot of time in the Carribean. I use the SolRx brand of spf 50 suntan lotion because I can put it on my face and it never burns my eyes when I am diving. I put it on in the morning spend the day on boats and do not get sun burned. This is the best suntan lotion I have ever used! It is well worth the price.

What’s the difference between avobenzone and zinc oxide as far as effectiveness goes? I won’t be using this for swimming.

They are both very effective protection, but work in different ways. Both are FDA approved and dermatologist recommended solutions. Avobenzene is a traditional (sometimes called chemical) sunscreen that works by bonding with the top layer of your skin. It 'filters out' damaging UV rays. Zinc oxide (sometimes called mineral) sunblock actually makes a physical barrier on top of your skin to 'block' UV rays. Think of Avobenzene as similar to polarized sunglasses- it stops the bad, but allows the good. Zinc Oxide is more analogous to a coat of paint - it physically blocks out light. One 'screens' the other 'blocks'. Again, they are equally effective if the SPF is the same. Both work well.
