Lucas (Author) I've put all three of these books together not only because they are a trilogy, but because the first two end on cliffhangers that bleed over, sometimes word for word, into the next. So, hey, three for one, yay! Imagine being the son of a Goddess, being 2000 years old, running a massive conglomerate nearly on your own and having to spend every night with a different women, wiping her memory of you so you are truly alone except for your family. Oh, and you have fangs that exude venom and are the origin of the legends of vampires, although you don't take blood. Your venom merely causes some of the greatest orgasms your partners have ever had. All you want is your truemate, but you no longer believe in that myth. Now imagine you are a graduate student who has precognitive abilities who is working with a fun and flirty female professor researching paranormal abilities. You have no idea that she has an ulterior motive, she is looking for Dormants, descendants of the Gods, many many generations removed. Your only romantic and sexual experience is one obnoxious, bordering on a verbally abusive male. These three books are their stories – Kian (the son of the Goddess) and Syssie(the ordinary grad student with precog). They are pushed together when Amanda's lab (the Professor) is destroyed by Doomers – our villains du jour. The sexual tension and relationship confusion are both drawn tight as we see the expectations of a modern woman versus that of man who has lived 2000 years and doesn't quite get the concepts of sexual liberation, delegation and democracy. There is a lot of humor and a lot of action scenes plus tension from the attraction that quickly turns to true love. Secondary character, from Amanda to Dahlu who should be the main villain but is not what we expect, are exceptionally well drawn. One moment you thing Amanda is a shallow woman moving fro man to man, then you realize she has no choice and is seeking a 'cure' to all that. Dahlu appears to be a whack job of a religious he-man-woman-hater, then you find, like a lot of Scientologist, he has discovered the internet. All three books have a continuous plot and are addicting. I would finish one and immediately need the next like a fix! This Trilogy is Book Nerd Approved 4 out of 5 stars – losing one star because, for a 2000 year old man from Eastern Europe, Kian has an amazing grasp on the English language including American idioms and slang. Dark Stranger: The Dream-Revealed-Immortal Books 1-3 in The Children of the Gods Series I.T. Lucas Books 1 through 3 of Lucas’s Children of the Gods series Lucas’s Children of the Gods series is unique, eye opening and addicting. Her premise of descendants of Gods battling it out through the centuries and almost wiping out each other and the human race is excitingly fresh in a genre gone stale. The race may be ancient but they surround themselves with all the current luxuries and technologies. With a plucky dialogue, action packed scenes and unforgettable characters they’re hard to put down and almost impossible to stop at just one. Books one through three is Kian and Syssi’s story and must be read in order. In these first books of the series you will meet most of the characters, learn their history and will become intimate with a few key players. Lovers of all things urban fantasy, myth lovers and fans of kick-butt hero and heroines this is for you. AUDIBLE: The audible edition narrated by Charles Lawrence gives the listener a deeper perspective of the story by magnifying all the emotions and actions of the characters. His seductive baritone does a great job with all the voices and the intonations of the very different characters, females and males, human and immortals. SUMMARY: From the beginning of time there have been near immortal beings who have molded humanity, been the object of worship but who as a race almost destroyed each other and human civilization. Now only two Gods are left both sworn enemies: The followers of Morta, the Doomers and the descendants of the Goddess Annani. Kian, the son of Annani is the leader of his clan all descendant of the Goddess they live a lonely existence denied true love because the only other of their kind are their greatest enemy. When Kian’s sister, Amanda discovers that humans who have certain psychic traits could be in fact dormants of their kind he’s skeptical until he meets her assistant and most likely candidate, Syssi and falls head over heels in lust with her. Syssi knows she landed the perfect job as Dr. Amanda Dokani’s lab assistant that is until there is a break in at the lab and Amanda insists she stays with her until the danger passes. When Syssi meet’s Amanda’s gorgeous, unsettling brother, her whole world turns upside down and she has no idea what’s in store for her.

Dark Stranger The Dream is merely the first book of a captivating paranormal series. I selfishly have read the first 12 "can't put 'em down" books, before taking the time to write my review of the first book, and am writing it now, only because I have a break while I await the publication of the 13th book... and because I love this author! :) Caution: Spoilers ahead. All the greatest stories are founded on the never ending war between good and evil. The characters in The Children of The God series are literally larger than life, especially Kian, the leader of his clan of Immortals, and son of Annani, the only remaining goddess in existence. Kian and his sister Amanda live in America, in a secure compound with others of their kind. Their immortality is kept a secret from the rest of the world, although they actively work and socialize with humans. They are the good immortals. They've been at war for centuries with another, much larger group of immortals, lead by a wicked man who is intent on the destruction of Annani and her descendants... I liked Lucas' concept of gods and goddesses, and their immortal children existing, and thus being the foundation of so many of the myths and legends found in our cultures. The gods and immortals are flawed as are humans. Some are very good and some are wicked... In a creative twist, the immortals have venomous fangs that are induced by aggression or arousal. They are able to "thrall" the minds of humans into forgetting, which suggests immortals may be the basis for the many vampire legends. Some immortals have additional paranormal abilities, which leads Annani's daughter, Amanda, a neuroscientist and researcher working at a university, to postulate that humans with paranormal abilities may actually be dormant immortals. She searches for "dormants" through using her research into paranormal abilities. Lucas' characters are unique, richly interesting, and they have depth. I generally do not like reading sex scenes, because so often the are crudely or poorly written. Lucas is an exception. She writes about lovemaking tastefully and well. It is a pleasure to read her books. On a final note, Lucas' story describes a world in which those in power who are good, try to lift up the rest of the world and help others. Those who are evil, spread the evil using their power, wealth and greed. Unfortunately, we are seeing this today in our world in the treatment and oppression of women, children and gays in some cultures of our world. Let us hope that good, will ultimately conquer evil in reality, as it usually does in fiction.

With all the positive reviews, and for only 99 cents, I gave this book a shot with very low expectations. It has potential but I found myself rolling my eyes more than anything. Maybe it's because I'm 32 and too much of a feminist but the main characters drove me a little nuts. Amanda was the only one I kind of liked but even she had her issues. Sissy was smart and beautiful but constantly held back by her own insecurities; i.e. she described several times finally feeling somewhat confident after putting on her high heels, she's 5'5'' that's average height! She was also constantly judging herself and feeling shame over her sexual desires. Let it go girl. Oh and learn to deal with your anxiety without having to add alcohol to your coffee. I just picture these young college girls reading this type of junk, and even if only subliminally, being brainwashed further into the stereotypes of American society: put on your heels to be sexy, drink alcohol to cope, constantly rank yourself on a scale of 1-10, wanting sex makes you a slut... but be with a dominant male that wants to possess and control you... ugh. For Kian, the man on the cover is gorgeous and he has some positives but I had a hard time really liking his character. He is not how I would picture a true alpha male. To start, the guy is thousands of years old but can't control his temper, what's with that? He's supposed to be this alpha dominant male but I feel like he acts like an insecure chihuahua at times. I laughed thinking back to the old Cesar Milan episodes I used to watch about how a pack leader is calm and assertive. This guy is all over the place. He also doesn't have a lot of depth, not in the first book at least. The dialogue was weak. I also disliked all the pet names he used like "sweet girl" and "beautiful" after knowing the girl for 24 hours, felt very superficial and cheesy. Oh and just freaking bite her already. He acts like it's more honorable to just give the girl whip-lash by constantly avoiding and then seducing her. She's a big girl and can say yay or nay to the offer. It reminded me of a weak version of Edward and Bella in Twilight but for more lame reasons and without as much transparency. I did really like all the vegetarian references though, that was a nice change. The abrupt cut off was strange. Like other reviewers said it was like it stopped halfway through the book. Luckily the book was like a dollar so I can't totally complain but on principal that's not cool. I could keep going but the 1-star reviews sum it up pretty well. I hope this author keeps writing but maybe 5-10 years down the road comes up with something with more depth. I'm still waiting for a great fantasy series for women over the age of say 30. I see books with great reviews and then am bored to read about more teenagers-early 20 some year old girls finally discovering their sexuality. Been there done that, I want books I can relate to. What kills me is that most of these authors are older than me. I mean it's fun to think back on those first feelings but books with more depth would be soooo nice. You can sprinkle in all the hot sex just make it with more depth. Outlander is the only one that fits the bill so far. Sigh. If anyone has other suggestions please let me know.

You are about to embark on an adventure of falling into an incredibly complex fantasy that embraces our own reality so seamlessly it feels close to actual truth. The underlying story thread is full of depth and rich in tangential philosophical musings while each books story within the story follows matched characters discovery of each other and their fated love. This idea of an earth populated by the children of gods starts simply enough but after the 100th plus book, you find yourself as a reader completely immersed and entranced by the multitude of directions the author spins.

Good read

I have read fiction since I was a child. I am now 47. I am a highly educated woman with an expansive knowledge in world history - ancient thru to modern times - and the law. I was also trained to write well-written papers in college so much so that I have come to cringe at bad grammar! I am no one famous nor am I a published, but my education is what it is. Therefore, I have some wonderful things to say about this series by Ms. Lucas. In all the fiction that I have read, Ms. Lucas's books are beyond comparison. I started this series back in mid-March 2021. I have not stopped reading these books since I started the series nor have I read any other books since mid-March except for this series. I am now on book 45. This is the first series, in a long time, where I can say that it is extraordinarily well written. (I cannot stand poorly written books! In fact, I was so tired of reading poorly written books that had terrible story lines that I began to wonder how they even got published! I was so frustrated with all the bad fiction I was reading that I actually wrote my first book in a five part series hoping that I could write better than what I was reading. I have not finished the book nor have I published it.) You don't get poorly written stories with terrible story lines from Ms. Lucas. Her books are very well written (few minor grammar issues, but nothing extreme). The stories are fabulous, well thought out, and highly creative. Ms. Lucas' stories also show a wonderful knowledge base of ancient history and mythology. I am a student of history (earned my BA in it), and I classically home educated my 3 daughters for 9 years. In classical education, you teach a lot of history. My children learned about the ancient world and their mythologies. (At the age of 6, my youngest daughter's favorite story was of Mark Anthony and Cleopatria ! - Yes, that' how she said Cleopatra's name!) I so very much appreciate Ms. Lucas' knowledge of the ancient world. I love, love, love these books and will be very sad when I have read them all - so much so that I dread finding another well written series to read. Once I get caught up, I will be faithfully waiting for the next book of this series with bated breath. Well done, Ms. Lucas on a fabulous series that is creative and well-written. You have my extreme gratitude!

The book is riveting and engaging, it opens to a whole new world of possibilities and adventures. Buckle up buttercups we are going for a ride!

Addicted, creative, great book. It is a different kind of fantasy that you can enjoy reading in your own time.

I've only just come across this incredibly long series, not sure how I've missed it before. If the rest is as entertaining as this, then I'll be very happy. There's nothing more inviting than a brooding, tortured leading man (only in fiction, however!). Watching him trying to avoid the luscious woman of his dreams is priceless! There's another side to this story, however. It posits an outside agency responsible for mankind's continual inability to embrace a world without war, violence or strife. As seductive as that is, I'm afraid that we manage that quite easily without prompts from elsewhere. For the purposes of the story, though, it's a very pleasing device. I've got a lot of catching up to do with this series, so on that note I'm off...

This book left me speechless, funny, romantic, intense. Love it.! I will get them all for sure. Excellent purchase. Go ahead and dare to leave it..you wont be able to!

What a fantastic start to an amazing series of books. I wasn't sure what to expect from this series, but I must admit, I was in two minds as to whether I should start it or not. At the time, I think the series was up to book #30 or there abouts. I'm someone who often feels a need to finish a series most of the time, so the thought of being able to read that many books and still loving the series, was a little daunting... But... am I glad that I strted reading it? Abso-freaking-lutely 100%!... lol The characters are so consistent throughout not only the books themselves, but the entire series. And when you're talking 65 books and counting, that's an accomplishment not many authors would be able to deliver. They are well rounded, fleshed out and as alive as any character on a page can possibly be. They feel like firends you haven't seen in a while. I can't recommend this series enough to anyone who wants to sink their teeth into a great story that has so many multifaceted characters, that will make you laugh, make you cry and make you fall in love with every single page turned. Do yourself a favour and start on this amazing series, you won't regret it.
